Amy had always been a nocturnal kind of creature. Despite the darkness, she persists to go out, constantly on the look for a kill-- for something to sate the bloodlust she had been cursed with. While it seems that her father had found a way to give her fresh blood for the past few nights, Amy knew well that the curse they had wasn't only dependent on blood. It was also dependent on pain-- the act of taking away from a living being.

Often, she had her ways, charming lonesome men seeking to fulfill some kind of perverted urge, then drinking enough from them to at least have them pass out in some dark alleyway. As it was the island's red light district, it didn't seem too strange an incident. And she was careful enough to not leave any trace of what she had done.

That night, she was able to lure someone successfully and drain them just so, as usual. Those who had a sharp eye for watching people could possibly notice that when the girl stepped out from the alleyway, the man she had charmed did not follow at all.

He didn't make it there in time to see her lure someone in, unfortunately. Or his response would have simply been a very soft "chire". Because, honestly, he's hunting a killer. However, he does notice the girl walking along the streets, and wonders just why she is out and about.

Standing atop a lightpost, Byakuya kept an eye on the young girl. Several monsters were beginning to gather, and a swift use of shun-po along with his sword, brought them all down. He slid Senbonzakura back into the sheath, standing under a light.

"You should go home." The admonition was there that little girls shouldn't be out on the street. If you were his sister, you would've been disapproved at a lot already.

Amy couldn't help but narrow her eyes and turn on her guard as she felt someone take down the monsters that were just about to surround her. She frowned. She could have taken them all on herself with her rapier. But all the same, a lady of noble class shouldn't let such a deed go unnoticed.

She straightened her posture, tilting her head up to give herself a more regal bearing.

"Why should I? I came out here to hunt monsters."

Byakuya had his back to her. His posture remained relaxed and he barely shifted to look at her out of the corner of his eyes. There was a blankness to his face and a set to his shoulders. He turned away from her, his scarf fluttering as the breeze picked up.

"This is no place for children."

He had no time for little girls that obviously should be at home. He didn't move from his semi-protective stance near her.

Sector 6 -- a couple of hours after sirens, maybe hybrid_prodigy February 17 2011, 03:21:28 UTC
Funny thing about reading: it could absorb Gohan so much that he chose to ignore the sirens. It wasn't that he hadn't heard them, of course, but he reasoned that he could make it back to the apartments with minimal trouble anyway ( ... )

[OOC: Oh god, he does.]

The display hadn't gone unnoticed, but Byakuya was a bit busy at the second. Pink colored blades drifted on the wind, swirling in the air, then gathering with an almost audible rush and exploding outward from a central point in an explosion of sakura. Even the air smelled like sakura.

His blade reformed from the tip down after the tiny blades sliced apart the foul crows that had attempted to surround him. Even here on this island, it wouldn't do for his skills to get rusty.

As he'd told Renji, if he was always the spectator, his skills would degrade.

He stepped out of the shadows and turned to look at the boy who had killed the other thing he'd been stalking as the last few sakura blades rejoined Senbonzakura and he sheathed the sword.

Gohan instinctively flinched at the stern look. It was always so . . . uncomfortable when somebody looked at him that way. Especially adults. Even more especially adults with a distinct aura of power around them. He'd never seen this man before, but there was no mistaking the fact that he was one of the strong presences he'd been feeling.

... Did he really have to keep looking at him that way? The man had put away his weapon, so there was no immediate threat, but still. Gohan couldn't shake the impression that he'd done something really wrong and was being punished by that silent stare.

He ducked his head a little in embarrassment, but maintained eye contact. It was only proper to look at someone when you spoke to them. "Sir?"

He wasn't meaning to be intimidating. He was being Kuchiki-taichou. It was just the way he was. He was impressed, however, that the boy maintained eye contact. Most wouldn't.

"You are unharmed?" Byakuya had to ask. Escorting the boy home would take time away from his investigation, but he didn't want the child on the streets. Not with a killer on the loose.

"Come. Where do you stay?" Surely, someone was taking care of this child.
