[it was the tarantula, funnily enough, that he spotted first-- as the two were in the forest area, a few trees and underbrush hid the Unicorn from sight. he could smell her presence, yes, but it was a thing that wasn't easily pin-pointed - and he felt too much inherent respect for her to sniff her out like he was a dog, so... the tarantula it was.]
[that spider was actually getting one of the most wide-eyed, freeze-formed looks in the world. it reminded him far too much of those flesh-eating centipedes in the dead forest-- and what if it had a taste for wolf?! he should really leave...!]
That is the best icon for that post ever. :DnotamareFebruary 2 2011, 13:10:58 UTC
[ The spider sees the wolf as well, as Unicorn was still a step or two away from it, allowing it the space she would give any other. The spider is, unfortunately for Toboe, hungry. And it had eaten dog so how different could wolf be? One step - ]
Stop.
[ And the silver flash of the unicorn is suddenly between wolf and spider. Despite her unhurried pace and the calm in her voice, it was a surprise - well probably not to them - that she wasn't there one minute, and suddenly then she was. ]
He is a friend. [ She adds to the spider. Grudgingly, it backs off, and Unicorn looks towards Toboe. ]
Do not hold it against him. He is unfamiliar with the nature of unicorns and predators, and thought I would be attacked. [ Which was silly. Unicorns had nothing to fear from lions and bears and wolves and the like. ]
says she who has a glowing Unicorn. ;w; also- sorry for the slow. D: will be missing tomorrow, too.elderyouthFebruary 4 2011, 22:15:51 UTC
… Hi. - I mean, hello. [he’d frozen at the very sigh of the spider, hadn’t unfrozen by the time the thing had started moving. He tried, but- he’d always been paralyzed by fear, and that walrus seemed so far away…]
[- then the Unicorn stepped (appeared) between them, and Toboe’s trance was broken. His tail had tucked between his legs, ears flat to the side- all at once respectful and fearful. The Unicorn was like Cheza, only far more old-seeming; he wanted to please both of them the same, though, and that was all that really counted. That the Unicorn had just called the spider off of him chased his normally happy disposition into becoming quiet, respectful. It’d surely change back, but for now…]
He’s your friend, too? [ears raising curiously, hesitatingly. - Wait. And she called him a friend?]
[- see. That fearfully respectful feeling was already disappearing.]
Nuu come back peltie ;o;notamareFebruary 5 2011, 02:18:08 UTC
I am friend to all creatures - this one is no different.
[ She didn't mind the fearful respect. She was often given respect from creatures in her home, save for the occasional deer that rudely claimed she was less attractive than his mate. ]
It has been some time since we last spoke. Have you been well treated?
[ The spider was probably giving wolfie the stink eye too, when it thought it wasn't being watched. ]
I am pleased to know this. Things, as you say, are neither better nor worse. I do not expect them to be any different. Come, walk with us, if you can. I would welcome the company.
[now his tail really was wagging, ears pricked forward in attention. he takes a few steps closer, then bounces back one, eyes shifting to the guard spider. dilemma!]
Oh god why so cute ToboenotamareFebruary 8 2011, 01:35:58 UTC
[ Unicorn didn't seem to notice the dilemma at first, glancing from the spiderdog to the wolf. Perhaps for the first time, there is a smile in her voice, amused. ]
There is no need to fear UNDERdog is here!. You will come to no harm when you are with me.
[ She's not implying that if she weren't here the spiderdog might attack - just trying to put him to ease. She shifts her stance however, in order to put herself between Toboe and the spiderdog, glancing back at the nervous pup in silent invitation. There was all that space on her left well away from the dangerous looking spidercreature that he could take over, and the spiderdog wouldn't dare cross paths with the Unicorn. ]
WHY SO AWESOME UNICORN answer that. :|a also fff underdog...elderyouthFebruary 11 2011, 03:17:42 UTC
I- I know!
[he says that largely to ... make himself seem better or something in front of her, but when she moves to leave an open space, he only hesitates one second (one last quick glance to the spider!) before darting into it, immediately relaxing once the unicorn was between them. much better...!]
Uh, you... rescued him, right? I thought some people were looking for him?
I CANNOT IT IS UNTRUE. Also Toboe is totally underdog. :DnotamareFebruary 12 2011, 14:40:24 UTC
[ The spiderdog is watching you man. It would do the fingers to eyes to you thing, but it lacks the ability to do so. Unicorn patiently waited for Toboe to move into place, before she started walking again, keeping a close eye on the spider as she talked. ]
He rescued himself from the confines of the place that held him. His plight was brought to me by the creatures of this place, and I sought him out. [ No need to mention he'd attacked her at first, mostly out of fear. Also no need to mention she hoofstomped him a little to make him behave. ]
It may be still, that there are others searching for him, yet I have promised to watch over him and prevent his recapture. I have never seen such cruelty like what has been visited upon him, and he does not deserve to have such happen again.
[a good thing it wasn’t mentioned, too, because otherwise, Toboe would have found reason to bristle and snarl and maybe dislike the spiderdog all that much more. Well, alright, he wouldn’t have bristled and snarled, but he would have come close.]
[as it was, he was actually… sympathizing a bit. He’d never been very good at keeping a grudge in the first place.]
I don’t think you could fail to save him. [that was heartfelt, as much as a child was to its mother.] Why are they looking after him, though? I heard from some alleycats that he was eating pets, but that doesn’t seem like a good enough reason…
[experimentation wasn’t on his mind in the least.]
[ Now now, Toboe, Be nice. That spider-dog could be a distant distant relative! If you squint and tilt your head. She smiles at the heartfelt comment. ]
I thank you for that. It is the smile of fortune that we crossed paths as we did.
[ A pause, and she lowers her head a little, displeased. ] This is not his natural shape. He was meant to be a dog alone, yet humans tortured him, changed his very being into what you now see. He escaped, and was forced to eat other animals to survive. [ Until now. ]
[asking that hanging question! because who knows if he's eaten wolves already. though there aren't actually any on the island aside from the zoo (not that Toboe's been to that place) and newcomers, and they didn't really count, you see, because they were usually erewolves or something like that...]
[ He's hunted cows and livestock, but no other types of animals. Yet. ]
He still must do so, yet limits his diet a good deal. A man has offered his assistance in acquiring food for him, which I may take up on. He assisted me once when I was caught in a human trap. [ Sort of. ]
I do not yet trust him, but if he seeks to enfeeble my friend through deceitful means or poisons, I will know.
keep amazing, Blue. <33!elderyouthFebruary 18 2011, 22:27:21 UTC
I hope he doesn’t. [heartfelt, whether it’s about the spiderdog’s health or not.] Your friend, I mean-or, uh, the man who offered.
People are usually nice if you don’t give them a reason not to be… [quieter, a bit sadder, but no less convicted. Toboe’s odd stance on humanity couldn’t be avoided.]
Keep rockin, puppy! <33 (what i do ;o;)notamareFebruary 19 2011, 06:10:44 UTC
I will promise, he shall never see nor speak to me again, should he make such a foolish choice.
Do you truly believe this? I am uncertain. I wish to have such faith in humans, yet I have seen far more examples of their cruelty and selfishness - for reasons no more than they wished it upon themselves.
He gave no one reason to have his nature forced upon him, or pain visited upon him, yet they did so. [ She's obviously talking about the spiderdog there. ]

It has been a while... - I've been really good, though! How about you? Have things gotten better?
