[As usual, Amy was wandering the city for fair bounty to catch. She isn't expecting any company save for her father. But at the same time, she wonders if she was going to be alone for the New Year.]

[ No bounty tonight, but a glimpse of something golden. He doesn't shine, per se, but there's a certain brightness and vitality about him that makes the shadows shrink away. ]

[Strange. Amy wonders what is this thing golden in the darkness. She decides to follow it.]

[ Aware he's being followed, Aslan maintains his pace nonetheless. In time, he is revealed -- a lion unlike any other, larger and greater in every sense of the word. He sees her, and for a brief moment he pauses, his eyes meeting Amy's. ]

Midnight 1/1/11 (also anywhere. She is a wanderer too :3) notamare January 1 2011, 17:24:27 UTC
[ Happy New Year Lord Fuzzyface, out of nowhere is the sparkling presence of the only unicorn in Sirens Port. She doesn't often risk the darkness for a walk, but she felt restless - and sensing his presence about, she opted to pay her respects in person. ]

I greet you, Lord Lion.

[ Right back atcha, Lady Shinymane! He nods once, with a smile. ]

Well met, dear heart.

How have you been faring?

[ She smiles back, brief thought it is. ]

I have no complaints. [ Save one, and she wasn't going to complain about it anymore. ]

The air is clear and there is plenty of room to roam, should the whim strike me. There is little else I could desire. [ Except being able to go back home. ] And what of yourself?

I find myself much the same.

[ He does have his concerns, of course, particularly regarding the world he left behind. There is much to be done in this world, however, and now, his purpose is here. ]

There is much in this world to be set aright.

[Vanille hurries through the city streets with her binding rod clutched close to her chest; at least she has the weapon on her this time, though Lightning will still be mad at her for getting caught out after sirens. Working on cleaning up the old cafe had caught all her attention, and even now she's a little torn between simply hurrying straight home or seeing if she can make it to the Underground Mall for some beads.]

[At least until she hears the sound of padding footsteps; there's some big shape moving out there in the dark, and she stops in her tracks, bringing the rod up and readying herself to cast a quick spell if she needs to.]

[ A big shape unlike anything the darkness could ever procure -- a lion that seems to shine with an inner light. The very shadows themselves flee from him, a hint of summer in the air as he walks unimpeded through the night.

He pauses only briefly, his head turning towards her. An invitation. ]

[She expects to see one of the twisted monsters of the Darkness, but instead what emerges from the shadows is a golden lion, the street seeming to brighten by his presence. Vanille lowers the binding rod, surprised to find herself feeling so...safe. It looked like he was nodding at her, as though in greeting--and it's not like that's so impossible, right? After all, she spoke to a talking pony just last week.]

[So after a few moments' indecision, she follows after him, hurrying to catch up.]

What is your name, dear one?

[Isamu is a dark presence in the already darkened streets, a pair of yellow eyes in the shadows. He has no destination, nor any real reason to be out after dark save that he sometimes feels more at ease among the monsters than he does among people.

He hugs the buildings, hands in his pockets and head tilted down.]

[ Even in a world such as this, inhabited by so many oddities (some good, some not), Aslan stands out above them all. Even in Narnia, where light usually reigns, he is distinct; here, in a world infested darkness, he stands out all the more.

He pauses, if only briefly, to glance at the man across the street. An invitation. ]

[Isamu notices. He stops and stares, feeling somewhat... uncomfortable.

This isn't one of the usual creatures of the night, and in facts feels like just the opposite. This is something pure amongst the corruption and it frightens him. He takes a step backward.]

What do you want?

[ He stays where he is, a calm and stillness about him meant to convey assurance. Then, without a word, he begins to walk away.

He'll not force himself upon anyone who doesn't wish it. ]

[ooc: Following THIS encounter with judgment served cold. Come be his rescuer plz?]It was an odd sight, in the middle of the street. Usually the city is decrepit at night, but this enclosed ring of smooth-walled stone six feet high, seemingly sprung up from the pavement itself, is brand new ( ... )

[ He comes upon the scene with impeccable timing, monsters scattering left and right with indignant shrieks when Aslan approaches. He doesn't have to say anything; the stone falls away because he wills it, returning to the earth from whence it came. Then, with a low growl, he pulls the fetid remains off the fallen warrior and tosses it to the side.

Then, lowering his head, he breathes, expelling a rush of air -- warmth that inspires strength -- over Joe's face. The collar will loosen, the darkness unravel; not a complete healing, but enough to get the boy back on his feet. ]

[He dimly registers the low rumbling over him, stirs a moment after the weight of the dead monster is hauled away off his chest.

Then there's hot, liony-breath across his face...he wrinkles his nose and makes a low groaning noise, eyes squinting, then blinking open.

For a moment he wonders if he'd died...but- no, if he died then he wouldn't feel so tired. Gulping in a deep drink of cold night air, he tries to sit up halfway, sees who in there with them, and then immediately makes a choked, grateful sound burrows his fingers into that great mane, arms looping around Aslan's neck.

He pulls him close into a relieved hug, for a moment not quite conscious of the all monster guts spilled over his middle.]

[ Resting a velveted paw on the youngster's back, Aslan lets Joe hold him for as long as he wants to. He won't ask what happened (he already has a sense of it, besides) but he'll stay like this for as long as needed. ]
