Watching this scene unfold from a perch above was Alex. He'd only seen the octopus in action, not the woman before, and was thus being extremely cautious. That thing down there reminded him of what was back home, only... mechanical.

As the creature moved he crawled downward, closer, basically spying on it as it attacked the incoming monsters.

Caught up in her own fight, she didn't immediately notice Alex taking cover on the higher ground. Extending a tentacle out to the ape, she sent a wave of electricity, stunning it long enough to turn to the other monsters behind her. In another swift movement, she pierced a Mutation through the stomach, before tossing it behind her. Whipping the tentacle back to the front, she used it to join another one of her extra appendages in squeezing the life out of another monster, cackling as she watched tendrils of whatever it was made out of slip through the tiny openings of her tentacles.

Distracted with attacking the smaller monsters, she didn't have the attention to spare to the approaching Ape behind her. It sought out to attack her with it's teeth-hands, but as her tentacles had a mind of their own, one was able to bind itself around it's arm, stopping it in place.

"You're going to have to do better than that!" she growled out snippily, as she released more her of inky fog behind her. As the creature gave a frustrated shriek, she ( ... )

Something about that voice rang a bell. He'd heard it before, he could have sworn - over the network? In a brief clip? Alex kept crouched down, like a cat prepared to dash away at any moment. Rather than allow his biomass to form over his arms he kept himself as he was, having far too much experience with viral-detecting machines - even if this thing didn't have those, it was a habit of caution he'd picked up.

But that voice. Why did it sound familiar? This struck his curiosity so he stayed right where he was even as the thing landed near him.

After some more moments of just watching, he descended completely to the street and stepped out of the shadows. Keeping an eye on it as he tried to make his presence known.

The Octopus saw something in the corner of her eye, something that resembled a human. Was it a threat? She knew better than most that they tended to be a bigger problem than the monsters, but she also knew that it was good to take on one task at a time.

Averting her attention back to the monsters, she hurriedly stabbed and bludgeoned the remaining foes in the visible area so that the could again focus on what she saw before. Whipping herself around, she stared analytically at the man. He didn't appear to be carrying any visible weapons. Was he a threat or not?!

Well, only way of finding out.

"Do you want to kill me too~?" Though it was a serious question, it came out in a rather playful fashion -- though in this form it was still pretty damned creepy.

At first Luppi thought he was observing a reckless human and had stuck around, perched on top of a building, in the hopes of watching her make a fatal mistake. Then the transformation occurred, and he realized that he was dealing with something completely different, something much more interesting. Maybe it was the tentacles that were so reminiscent of his resurección, or the sight of a human going through something similar to an Arrancar's release. Whatever it was, he felt the impulse to try her out.

When she taunted one of the monsters to come play, Luppi called out, "Why don't you come play with me, instead?"

"What?!" she growled out, turning around. One of the Mutations tried to take advantage of the distraction, rushing out to her, but a tentacle just simply smacked it away. She glanced at the fellow Octopus, tilting her head a bit. Was that a man? Woman? She wasn't sure, but right now that really didn't matter.

"I'll squeeze the life out of you~!" the Octopus proclaimed, pausing to let out a delirious laugh. "Are you certain you don't want to run away~?"

Luppi decided her tentacles must work reflexively, like they had a mind of their own, because there was no way she had seen that monster coming while she was focused on him. So maybe she wouldn't be confined to human reflexes and abilities. It made him more excited for this potential fight.

"Are you a mind reader?" Luppi called out to her, not moving from his position above the ground, "Because everything you're saying is exactly what I should be saying to you." He let one of his tentacles dart out towards her, probing and testing.

Perhaps if she were in her normal state of mind, she'd reply that it was her unitmate, Screaming Mantis, that was the mind reader, however that was of little importance to her now. Instead, she gave a low rumble of a laugh. This man - woman -- whatever it was seemed eager to die, so she'd grant it to them.

Quickly grappling onto a building, the Octopus began her pursuit of her opponent. If she had a loaded gun, she would have used that to distract him, but she was a bit of a disadvantage, as far as that was concerned. Nevertheless, she quickly made her way toward him, swiping a tentacle at his midsection.
