[Well that's just too bad, because he offered to Edgeworth to come and visit. It's much later in the day, and after his visit to Edgeworth himself, but Phoenix is de-suited and looking tired.]

[Shikamaru recognizes these two. Which is why he doesn't immediately walk away.]

An owl? Really, Maya, have you ever seen an owl? They have big wide eyes to let in lots of light, and right now I feel like I can't keep mine open at all.

[Ah yes, business as usual. He pulls a seat out for Maya before taking his own.]

[Even if he's so thin he looks half-starved. Hell, he looks awful. Even if the scratches on his cheek are bandaged now, he's pale as death.]

[Phoenix has seen that look before. He shoots a half glance at Maya, then looks seriously back at Shikamaru. He's not about to condescend to him and tell him to eat, he has to work out that much on his own.]

If you don't mind I'd like for you to start at the beginning. How did this design upon Lieutenant Yaha come about?

[Maya avoids the glance from Phoenix, but she's not about to let him off that easily. She offers the bag with the muffin and juice in it to him anyway]

Even if you're not, this muffin is really delicious, so I think you should try it! Or you can have it later if you really don't want to eat right now.

[She just nods to what Phoenix says]

So instead he convinced you that this plan of action was the best one? Was he the one who designed it, or was it a group effort? When did Mr. Black become involved?

It was me. He talked me down so then I suggested a sting instead. He worked with me on the details to make sure it wouldn't be entrapment, but it was mostly... me.

He asked Sirius to come along as backup.

He must have been quite desperate to involve a civilian in what was essentially police matters.

I know of Edgeworth's previous problems with Yaha--what was the nature of your relationship with him?

We didn't have one. I knew what he was doing, but he didn't know who I was.

You and Mr. Edgeworth are friends, right?
