Understandably, due to its position on the border between district 1 and 2, the Underground Mall was an exceptionally dangerous place. Certainly the earthquake hadn't caused as much damage as it had the last time, allowing the shops to remain open, but the fact was that there was great unrest. Just the other day violence had closed the stadium to games, and angry fans would be pouring out their frustration on the streets, without a doubt. Tempers were rising in the university, too. Just today Light had witnessed a student in the courtyard rallying others in anger against SERO.
But that anger, though it was something he had in mind and was already considering how to address, was unimportant right now. He had to face Yaha, and that meeting was at the forefront of his mind. There was no doubt the man was hated, violent and dangerous, but there was a possibility of being able to do something with that, and faced with that possibility where all and everyone else seemed to be failing, he simply had to try.
Though the tense atmosphere wouldn't make for an easy afternoon's shopping, it would at the very least make their being here less noticeable, though there would be witnesses around if Light needed them.
Light stopped for a cup of coffee, sitting in the street quietly, keeping watch.
