"Not that one...not that one...oh, definitely not this one." A quiet but continuous commentary flowed from Vanille as she sought through racks for a skirt that would suit her. It wasn't that she didn't love her fur, made just for her in Oerba, but if she was to be stuck here for so long there was no reason to go about in the same old clothes all the time. And she liked skirts, though she couldn't seem to find any that weren't too long or too drab or too business-like.

Vanille sighed, turned away from the rack, and bumped right into someone as she made to step away. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" This was what came of not watching where you were going--running into some poor unsuspecting woman.

Tifa started at the impact and took a half step back, spilling the two skirts she'd been carrying onto the floor. "Oh, no no, I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going."

She bent down to retrieve them, a long, flowing skirt and a shorter, black number that she only half considered actually wearing.

"No, no," Vanille assured her hastily, kneeling on the floor to help retrieve the spilled garments. "I'm the one who wasn't looking where I was going. It's not the first time...oh, what a pretty skirt!"

She straightened up with the shorter of the two numbers in her hand and held it out toward the woman with a speculative gaze, trying to picture it on her. "Definitely pretty. I bet it'll look really good on you." Actually, the other girl herself was very pretty, tall and with that long fall of black hair. Now Vanille was even sorrier for bumping into her. She hated to look so clumsy.

"Oh..." Tifa flushed a little at the compliment, looking at the skirt and then at Vanille almost helplessly. "You think so? I wasn't sure, it's a little on the short side yeah?"

A sheepish smile plays across her face as she half-models in front of the other girl, posing with her arms out to the sides. "Still think so? Mmmm, I think it might look better on you, it suits your figure."

"No, of course not," Vanille assured her. She prided herself on having good taste in skirts. "It's not indecent, anyway. Besides, wearing a skirt's all about attitude." She giggled as the taller woman posed, admiring her grace. "Yeah, just like that!"

At her suggestion, Vanille held the skirt against her hips and turned to the side to view herself critically in the mirror. "No, I think it's more your style. Black clothes don't really look good on me. Oh, my name's Vanille," she added with a beaming smile, handing the skirt back over at last.

"Mmm, colour really does go nicely on you." Tifa admires Vanille's hair a little, and the bubbly attitude has her smiling already.

"Oh! Where are my manners? I'm Tifa, it's nice to meet you." She offers out a hand.

"Hello! Nice to meet you too!" Vanille took her hand and gave it a firm, hearty shake. With names out of the way, she felt as though they were friends already. "I've been looking for a skirt myself, but I don't think this store has many of them that suit me. And the ones that do are really expensive..." She sighed, shoulders slumping, but then perked up again. "Are you going to get the ones you've found? I think you should, you know. I think you'd be very happy with them."

"Aw, it's the pits when you can't find something you like." Clearly they're friends, it's not like Tifa's latching onto a nice person in a city full of jerks. No, nothing that creepy.

"You think so? I'm just not sure when I'd wear the smaller one you know?" She pauses, "Hey maybe you can show me some of the ones you like? We might find something that's okay price-wise. I'm an excellent bargain hunter."

"Well," Vanille said helpfully, "it looks like a going-out skirt to me. Like when you're having a night on the town. That's just my opinion though." She shrugged with a sheepish smile. "I probably have no idea what I'm talking about."

Tifa's offer to help her shop brought a beaming smile to her face. "Really? That would be great! Over here is where I was looking." She led Tifa over to a rack of colorful leather skirts in a section of the store reserved for higher-priced clothes.

Following Vanille over to the higher-priced section, Tifa took in the racks of colourful skirts with a whistle and a smile. "Wooow, some of these are really nice. I bet they'd look really good on you too, the colours really suit you!"

"I...don't really go out much honestly, maybe I should change that." There was a sheepish smile again, and she tried to deflect by pointing to a deep green skirt with yellow scroll-work. "You -need- to try that on."

"Well, that kind of life doesn't suit everyone," Vanille said diplomatically. Then she clapped her hands together and grinned over at Tifa. "But if you ever want to just cut loose, you'd be dressed well for it!"

The skirts were just the kind she liked, all pretty colors and interesting patterns--nothing stodgy or boring in the bunch. Now why couldn't she have enough gil to buy them all? She hurried over to take a look at the skirt Tifa had pointed out, cocking her head and leaning in to examine the embroidery. "Wooow," she echoed Tifa. "That's so gorgeous! You really think I should?" She grabbed the skirt off the rack happily and looked around for a dressing room.

"You definitely should! Even if you can't get them all, there's still going to be some good stuff to get right?"

Tifa had already decided she was going to buy Vanille a skirt or two. It always made her feel better to do things for others, and she seemed like such a sweet girl.

"Definitely!" With this philosophy in mind Vanille hurried off to try on the skirt Tifa had pointed out. She came out of the dressing room wearing it a few minutes later, and twirled around to show it off; it actually fitted her really well, or so she thought.

"What do you think?" she asked enthusiastically, modeling it for the other girl.

Tifa hadn't done anything like this in forever, it was soothing in a way. The last time she'd been out for serious girl-time shopping had been with Yuffie, before Cloud disappeared with the geostigma. Being here with Vanille was...nice.

"It looks great! It fits you really nicely, and the colours go well with what you're wearing." She nods firmly, "We're totally getting that for you."

"You think so?" Vanille fisted her hands in the fabric of the skirt, as though trying to contain a fit of girlish glee. Skirt shopping had turned out to be even more fun an excursion than she had anticipated. She was having a great time modeling, and glancing at herself in the mirror, she definitely agreed with Tifa's advice that this skirt needed to be purchased.

Though there was still the question of money... "Do you think it's on sale?" she asked Tifa anxiously.

"Oh I definitely think so, and I'm -sure- it's on sale." A Tifasale! was still a sale after all, just one where she bought fun things for her friends. She was eying some of the other skirts too, looking back and forth from Vanille to some of them.

"You like bright colours right? Any preference between like reds or blues or anything?"
