[ the feed clicks on with a start. someone has apparently... woken up. from a very long sleep. startled, definitely, the person had scrambled around much beforehand, though of course, none of that had been recorded. a shame, really. it was probably pretty amusing

Eeheeheehee -- you're back!
[She was beginning to think he really was dead -- permanently, that is.]

but, then he sees Sarina's face and tries to calm down. sighing briskly, he offers a short bark of laughter. ]
Yeah. Seems that way.

So, uh...ahahaha...are you--
[...okay? No, that'd probably be a stupid thing to ask, right now.]
Are you able to walk?

Do you need assistance?

I think I'll be all right...

Do you have somewhere safe to go, at least? Heehee? Those monsters aren't going to be too merciful of someone, in your position, at night.
Reply
Not really, no. I don't have an apartment anymore. I suppose I could just hang out on a roof somewhere. [ and yes, he's dead serious about that. ]

You people from Manhattan sure like your rooftops, don't you? Eeheehee?
[And now she was addicted to roaming them at night too, dammit.]
I might have a place for you. There's plenty of room, at the very least. I just ah need to make sure it's okay with someone.

[ he rubs his neck and shifts around, finally standing up fully. ] You... you don't have to do that, you know.

I can't imagine that they'd be too safe to stay the whole night though -- heheheh -- and you can never hide forever...someone will find you eventually. [And she knew this best, even if she was the very best at hiding.]
[At his response, she shakes her head, giving a short, amused snort as she muttered to herself.] That's another thing you two have in common.
If you want a place to stay, try talking to a man named Liquid Snake. Eeheehee -- he's kind of in charge of the place, and there's more than enough room.
[But the question is if you want to live with a bunch of crazies. :|]

[ he catches that quieter part of her reply and his brow furrows... but he doesn't press it. instead, he chooses to focus on the rest. ]
Well... [ HNGHHH. ] I don't really know what I could offer him as payment. [ the concept of someone letting him stay someplace out of their own kindness was still foreign...and highly unlikely, as far as Cross was concerned. ]

I don't know how -- eheh -- but we're somehow able to get by on payments every month. Just help out with the payments, if you do manage to get a job, I guess.
[No kidding, but even if Sarina was still getting used to the kindness of others herself, it was rubbing off on her.]

But, if I can get a steady income... I suppose I could ask Liquid about this.
[ a pause. ] Thank you. For everything. [ what was "everything?" even Cross wasn't sure. it just felt necessary to say; no one had ever been so kind to him before. ]

[Thoughtfully, she rubbed a thumb at her bottom lip, giving a shrug as she spoke.] Even if you can't find a job right away, it shouldn't be a big deal. [brow raise.] It at least beats living on rooftops, right? Heehee?
[But hell, being thanked was definitely not something Sarina was used to. She blinked a couple of times, before giving a weird, awkward kind of smile.]
You're - ah welcome, I guess. Even if I haven't really done much.
Reply
[ he thinks for a moment... ] I suppose... I don't like imposing, however.
[ he regards her smile with one of his own; a little more confident but a bit small. ] Your kindness to me is more than enough.
