There are groups that are just for meeting new people, if you'd like to go to one of those!

Truly. The news has advertisements for them, sometime.

Would you want to attend one?

I am not certain. Perhaps I should pay closer attention to such things.

[An orange tabby in a green vest, white shirt, and straw hat appears on the screen and waves to Japan.]

Hello! I'm Danny. It's nice to meet you.

F-forgive me. Ah... Pleased to meet you, Danny-san. I am Japan-- ah, I mean, Kiku Honda.

It's okay. I get it a lot. [Danny just smiles and takes off his hat as a sign of respect.]

Hello Kiku Honda. And if you need advice on meeting people I can help! You just have to introduce yourself to them and talk. It's really easy.

[Guy looks Japanese, might be interesting. So Shinji speaks out in their potentially shared language:]

Not makin' any friends yet, huh?

[And he replies in standard Japanese, of course]

...In a sense. I believe it is more that I am not trying my best.

Why's that? Tryin' to make friends doesn't mean it'll happen any easier.

I was so focused on attempting to adapt to the change in setting that I have not turned to those who are joining in this. I am aware of the difficulties, however.

[Oh, she can relate. She was in the same position, her first month.]

I've found that the best way to meet people is through work, eheheh. Although I've found that I've met most of my closest friends from talking on this network.

But - ah what do you wish to know about me, exactly?

Closest friends...? [how nice ahhh...

oh but right] Perhaps hobbies, or your work as well! I am very interested in how people make their way in a city like this.

Hobbies?

[She didn't have very many, sadly. But...]

Well, I sometimes cure boredom by fighting the monsters outside, hahaha. Otherwise, I like taking walks and uh playing video games.

As for jobs, I started out as a waitress at Coconut's, and then got another job -- during the night -- working as a server at the Lux. Eheheh, but then I got fed up with Coconut's and quit, so now I work at a coffee shop, during the day.

I'm was fortunate enough to have good references for all three jobs, heh.

Monsters? Truly?

[To be honest, he was interested in training with his sword... But the monsters weren't his ideal choice of... 'training'.]

Ah, but how lucky! I am hoping that Tamaki-san will be a sort of reference in this area, as well. At least, I had an interview...

Oh, that's nothing unusual. I've been here about a month now myself- ...crap, that means the apartment lease is up-

-er, but anyway, I guess this place is so overwhelming that there's really no definite place to start for figuring things out.

[Well, he's bored, and the guy sounds sincere enough.] At least that's what I feel from my standpoint. I'm just a high school student from Japan that feels like he's just been thrown into a sci-fi movie or a combination strategy-survival-RPG.

Japan... is that so?

[he's quiet for a moment, and then nods a few times]

It truly is strange, isn't it? It is difficult, but as a Japanese man, I will prevail! ...Of course.

[He nods.] Yeah. I guess there's quite a few Japanese around, though.

[That gets a bit of a strange look. Well, he supposes he can't fault the guy for being determined. The only person that he'll ever worry about having that sort of look will always be Haruhi.]

Good.

I'm guessing that things here are a lot different from what you're used to? Assuming you're from Japan but figuring with the time-space-world-what-have-you differences, anyway...

So I have noticed... [he moves a hand to his chin thoughtfully]

Indeed. 1868 Japan is quite different than this, I assure you.
