[The man that appears on screen has the look of someone desperately attempting to look fresh and ready for action whilst actually being in desperate need of a coffee, relaxing whale songs and an extra twelve hours or so of sleep. He's sitting perfectly straight at the table, eyes fixed straight on the camera and wearing a prize smirk, but anyone ( Read more... )

Regardless of who you are or what power you wield, your actions are rather poorly thought out if you spring straight to threats before procuring any relevant information.

I want results- and threats are, after all, a language that is universally understood. Still, there may also be a carrot to accompany the stick, if that's what this is about.

Your so-called stick is worthless, if you are not aware of who your foe is and what they wield. You speak like a tyrant, yet you have clearly spared this plan of yours little thought.

[The worst part is, he knows that whoever this person is, they're right. Perhaps a small part of him knew that before he started talking; even if he did manage to get through to whoever was in charge, there was no way in hell that Teiai would actually back him up. Not anymore.

But admitting that in so many words would mean admitting that he'd lost- and that would be unthinkable.]

... fine. If you're such a bastion of knowledge then tell me- who is my foe?

[ so, this man is obviously not the type to admit defeat easily, hm? he'll feed them a little information to see how they react. ]

The one responsible for bringing you to this place is a machine. Hardly a foe you can threaten into obedience.

I heard, yes. But unless you are telling me that this 'machine' can act on its own, there must be someone controlling or working it.

[Because of course machines aren't sentient. That's impossible, the stuff of fiction. Never mind that this entire situation is impossible.]

[ pause before you get an answer. if this were audio, you'd hear how thick the disdain in his voice is. ]

You have just been pulled from your home and thrown into a city inhabited by monsters and people of different worlds. The supposed free will of a machine should not be the most difficult idea to accept.

... tch.

[... and again, whoever this is has a point. But if they think Tonegawa's going to admit it- because, yet again, that would be to admit that he's in completely over his head- they have another thing coming. In one practised but not entirely unstressful gesture, he stubs out his first cigarette and lights a second.]

Who is this? How much do you know about this place?

Merely another person brought to this city by the Core. I know only what is necessary. Others who have been here longer know more.

[ doesn't like this demanding tone of voice. this man reminds him somewhat of the more demanding templar guards from his home. ]

You would do well to humble yourself and learn of the circumstances before acting so haughty.

... hmm. No name, then? So be it.

[Tonegawa narrows his eyes but doesn't say anything else. Without any tone or expression to go off of, he can't try to pry a real answer out of Mr. Anonymity.]

If this doesn't work, I plan to. [The learning, that is. 'Humble' and 'Tonegawa' don't belong in the same sentence, and he's all too happy to admit that.] I'm always open to suggestions. [More lies.] At any rate, there's no harm in trying to negotiate a peaceful solution first, is there?

My name is of little concern to you.

[ he's been keeping himself anonymous for a while -- this man's attitude makes him very glad that he's taken that route. ]

A man does not attempt to threaten his way to safety unless it is what he is most comfortable doing. I have already given my suggestions. Cease your attempts at brandishing power.
