Oh, geez! Oh, man, oh.. I'm... I must be dreaming! I'm dreaming. I hit my head and I'm dreaming something.. really hard to imagine. Are those..... buildings? Uhh.......... Right. Well, anyway, I'm lost and seeing things. That's a great start to...whatever this is.
That guy back there said this thing could talk to people..? Not sure how that would

Hey, calm down. Start over, did you say ...Viking ships carrying a dragon...?
Reply
H-Hello? Er, yeah.. Vikings, fully armed. Lots of ships. Black dragon. Hard to miss 'em. Have you... seen anything..?

Aren't dragons... dangerous?

Dragons aren't what you think! They're really misunderstood.

I'm sorry, let me start from the beginning. My name is Kairi - I'm one of the Greeters. Though I actually work part time. You -- and probably this dragon you're looking for -- it's going to sound pretty crazy, but you were pulled here out of your world. You're in a place called Canada - Siren's Port, Canada.
Misunderstood? Really? So ... what are they like then?

Wow, you're.. actually listening to me. That's... [Cue trail-off, subject hop.] They're really playful. They don't really mean to cause harm.

[ A faint chuckle at the disbelief. ] Well.. is there any reason I shouldn't be? You aren't lying are you? [ Hopping subjects, yay! ] So ... all the stories about dragons fighting knights, kidnapping women, burning villages... [ You may want to stop her here. ]

No! No, no, no, no, it's the truth! It's just that.... I'm not used to it. At all. ... Ah-ha. Ahaha. Boy, that's quite the list. My village's been burned down plenty of times.. but it wasn't the dragons' fault.

[ Aw, Hiccup. ] Stories about knights fighting dragons are pret-ty popular - have been for a while, really. There aren't too many about playful, friendly dragons. [ Long pause. ] Well there was one about a dragon named Puff that I passed in the library, but I didn't read it, I think. [ It was in the kiddie section. ]
So you don't mind the dragons burning down your home? [ What a forgiving soul! ] Something tells me there's more to it than that - if it wasn't their fault, then who? Or did someone from your village attack them, so they retaliated?

Popular, huh? I've been living it my whole life. Puff... Ha, that's a funny name for a dragon. [Like Toothless wasn't.]
Rebuilding your house every other month? That's lots of fun. We--the other vikings, anyway--killed dragons for spite.. and for sport. They never tried to understand them. But I... I saw something that proves they had to do it, attack us all the time, and.. it was snowballing from there into something out of control.

[ Toothless worked though! ... Puff did too one supposes but. . .Toothless is still cooler. ] Yeah, I thought so too. It's not a very intimidating name.
Okay this might be a funny question - did you rebuild it the same way every time? [ She can hear you, sarcasm. :I She goes silent at the latter, thoughtful. ] At least they had someone that tried to understand... say... why were you looking for a dragon anyway?

Not that dragons need to have intimidating names.. They do that fine by themselves. Especially the Nightmares. Not.. that you would know. [Oops.]
Sometimes. We make changes, here and there. Improvements. I.. I think they need us to listen to them. I'm just doing what I can. Speaking of listening.... I can't believe someone's talking to me like this. People usually just tell me to get out of the way. [Awwwkward pause.] The dragon I'm looking for, I owe everything. He's important to me, and he's in trouble... because of me.

I've never seen a dragon up close, but if they look anything like their pictures, I'm not sure I would want to. I especially wouldn't want to run into an angry one. [ A pause. ] Nightmares?
[ She almost laughs at that. Oh man, Hiccup. ] Well it's pretty interesting - you seem to know a lot about dragons, and it's worth listening to. [ Presuming you're not lying through your teeth to impress her. Which would be silly. ]
Oh... [ A bit more quietly, sobered. ] What... happened? And what does he look like? I'll keep an eye out for him for you too.

There are lots of different dragons... I don't know what they look like here, in your pictures, but I bet you'd like them if you didn't meet one in a bad mood. [He smiles, wondering if she'd like Toothless, then his expression turns wry.] Nightmares can be a little scary. They like to set themselves on fire.
You think so? Everything I know, I learned from Toothless. [There's another little crooked smile but it's quickly gone and the freckle-faced boy looks sadder than before, lonely and lost in his thoughts.] It's a long story.... [He's surprised she even wanted to hear about it. He hadn't even told Astrid everything about Toothless yet... and now he might not ever have the chance to. The boy gives a little shrug, as if ( ... )

Next time I go to the library I'll pick up a book on dragons, if it has some pictures; that way the next time I see you or talk to you I can show you. [ She pauses. ] Well...maybe, if they're like you say. I think I'd like to meet a friendly dragon. [ That would be pretty darn cool. ] ... they set themselves on fire? And it doesn't hurt them? [ No wonder your home got burned down a lot! ]
Oh! [ The NV shakes a bit as she jostles it in her haste to grab a piece of paper to note this down. ] Okay ... he can't? [ Awww, poor thing. Don't worry Hiccup, you'll find him! D: Or someone will - hopefully not one of the bad people. ] I guess that happened in one of the viking attacks huh? Is there anything that would draw him out?

Alright. It'd be great to talk dragons with someone willing to listen. [Really great.] Nope, they seem pretty cool with it. Nothing else is safe though. [Generation after generation had to rebuild, actually.]
[Hiccup raises an eyebrow, looking a little inquisitive when she rustles around. Oh, she was writing it down? Her memory must not be too good, or she didn't want to forget. That was awful nice of her. The Viking teen cringes at her mention of an attack hurting the dragon.] It was definitely a Viking's fault.... He.. likes fish a whole lot. And sweet grass. So if there was a place with that... but it's pretty snowy around here.
