[Kia sits on a park bench and smokes even as his NV turns on. His forehead's wrinkled up and for a moment, he seems utterly lost in thought before he looks towards the camera.]
There's something really weird about knowing for sure that this place really is nothing like home, especially in most people's attitudes to some things. I can get used to the big warnings on cigarette boxes, needing to wear a bike helmet, and hearing that what someone looks like doesn't seem to matter as much anymore. But fuck it's strange to learn that something that'd get me tossed in jail for a bit and kicked out of the army in Berlin's not a giant deal anymore. Two guys that love each other probably don't even have to worry about losing their job or getting kicked out of where they live if everyone knows they're together, since they can apparently get married here.
[He pauses to tap some ash onto the ground.]
Maybe it's different because the piece of shit religions at home that talk about how wrong it is don't seem to be as prevalent here. It's a nice change...that doesn't make it any less strange to realize I don't have to bother hiding what sorta person I like. Since there're people from a lot of places and times stuck here too, anyone mind telling me what their homes think about a couple of men or women loving each other and being together like any other couple of people in love? I expect most people to say their homes think it's wrong at best or illegal at worse. Maybe I'll end up proven wrong.
Oh, and if anyone wants to make a little money and doesn't mind showing their body off to college kids, SPU's hiring life drawing models. Any art students'll get to see a whole lot of me soon.
[Edit: I fully encourage threadjacking/other sorts of discussion here!]
