I'd offer you my air conditioner, but .. I don't have one. [ She's such a damn cheater, using ice, and frost-breath to stay cool. Unless you want her to come over and breath on you. Or like, freeze everything, she can do that too. Though it'd be messy. ]

That's the most likely possibility, I think. [ Of course it could also be that they were a selfish bastard and just wanted to extra air conditioner. ]

I'm not sure that they would have been willing to ask you though. You've seen how a lot of the people here behave in the news - threatening children, attacking people - heat doesn't make for the most rational of tempers, I'm afraid. That and they probably would have assumed you would say no.

[ And a grin. ] Yeah, I go swimming down at the lake, but I was referring more to the apartment I'm staying in for now. I bend water out of the pipes and make it into enough ice to make the area around me cooler. Then, when it melts I just bend it out of the carpet again and re-freeze it.

But I wouldn't have said "no"! I would never say no to such a request! Perhaps I should make a sign and hang it on my door, or advertise in the news, just so people know! No one should turn to a life of crime because of their temper and because they think that I might reject an earnest request of that sort!

You know that, and I know that - but I don't think the people here are very trusting, especially of newcomers like ourselves. They probably were reasoning that it was better to just take it and run, especially if they didn't have the time or want to stop to ask for it.

Making a sign and advertising would be a really nice idea, but you'd have to be careful in case anyone tries to take advantage of your kindness. [ Pause. ] You really have a daughter? [ He seemed so young -- of course people married fairly young back home, but... ]

[ A-and then at the latter...an awkard laugh at that. Sheesh Tamaki. ]

I don't know why everyone feels that way! We've proven that we can be quite trustworthy! And surely making such a sign would allow people to see that even more clearly! They would come to realize that we really do want to help!

Ah, but--yes! Yes, I am lucky enough to have my daughter Haruhi with me here in this place! We were separated for a few months, but then blissfully reunited! She is the best daughter that any father could ask for, of course, so I'm even more lucky to have her by my side.

Yes, but when you do become overheated, there is an easy solution provided for you! You are so very lucky! Ah, do you refrain from using it because it's a tiring processes?

I don't either, to be honest. I can't believe that they're so distrusting of us because we've abilities when everyone here seems to have some special gift or other. Something awful must have happened in the past, that's made them so distrustful.

[ The city wouldn't be so bad if they all were able to work together, Not to mention this fuss over the core... but on to cheerier subjects! ]

I'm so happy for you, Tamaki. Family shouldn't be separated ... [ She trails off a bit - she can't help but think about her dad and her brother. ] ... um.. how old is she?

But then that's why we should do things to correct their impressions! We shouldn't just allow these things to continue, we should all be as nice as possible so they see that their impressions aren't correct--that's the only way to change their minds! Things like putting friendly advertisements in the newsfeed would help, I'm sure--so that's what I'll do, and then they'll all see how wrong they were, despite any past events.

Hm? Haruhi? Oh, she's sixteen! Yes, a good portion of our little family is here--it's not quite the same without everyone, of course, but things are all right!

Oh... Ah, because you would become lazy, perhaps?
