Five days off in a row, and then two weeks till my quarterly review. Time flies- and I almost don't know what to do with myself.

[Dr. Yumeno is apparently in a very pensive and candid mood tonight, sitting back thoughtfully on a sofa in a very modernist, clean apartment, dimmed, with cooled blues of a projection-image aquarium swimming on the wall ( Read more... )

You're an excellent doctor, Daedalus. You shouldn't doubt yourself so much.

It's very different here-

How much longer are you planning on being out?

But that doesn't make you a bad doctor.

Not much longer. Why? Do you need me to pick something up on the way home?

A doctor shouldn't feel so unversed in the kinds of things he's expected to treat daily- sometimes, Re-l, I really don't know...I should have taken more time in training. Or stick to research.

What's even open, after siren? No...I was only wondering.

You should open your own clinic and study during downtime. It's not your fault; Romdeau was so much better than this. We've been created differently.

The corner store. I can swing by and pick you up soon.

I didn't mean to make it sound as if it were- it's exactly that. The differences. And...Romdeau wasn't anything greater- Re-l, most of our people would have never lasted a day in Siren's Port.

Pick me up? I- No, I...don't really need anything-!

But we had been adapted to our world. No one would have lasted on the outside, but they weren't made to.

You're sure? Well...I'll be home soon anyway. Give me ten minutes.

Exactly. It's difficult to even compare the circumstances. And just a process of adaptation, but being a doctor well suited for Romdeau's needs doesn't mean I'm quite cut yet for Siren's Port.

Good. Have you eaten yet, or should I take something out of the fridge for you?

I know. I don't think any of us are quite cut out for it yet.

That'd be good. I haven't eaten since noon. If you could put on some tea as well, that'd be great. I need to go through a few more papers before I can sleep.

Well, we try. It will be nice to rest for a few days, though I suppose I should plan for something worthwhile.

Since noon? It's nearing midnight! What have I told you about spacing out meals, or even eating several smaller ones.

...I'll put on tea. And you're taking water with you in the morning.

You deserve a break.

Don't give me that. I'm fine. We're allowed one break and I have far too much to do during my work day.

...Daedalus.

Five days.

Going twelve hours without eating, then going directly to bed-

Alright, alright...I'm fussing.

After how long being in the hospital, day after day?

I'm not going directly to bed. I'm staying up to do some paperwork and eat. You're-

Yes, you are. Take it easy.

Quite a few. But that's why I was given the break. Maybe I'll finally be able to make some headway...

..Progress today for you, at least?

You deserve it.

Yeah. Slowly getting used to the work.
