Five days off in a row, and then two weeks till my quarterly review. Time flies- and I almost don't know what to do with myself.

[Dr. Yumeno is apparently in a very pensive and candid mood tonight, sitting back thoughtfully on a sofa in a very modernist, clean apartment, dimmed, with cooled blues of a projection-image aquarium swimming on the wall behind him. He's out of his doctor's coat for once, but still wearing scrubs, and his eyes are averted from the video mount on his holobook and trained across the room, tired and distant.]

Over the past few months I've had time to meet and speak with many people- not always under the best of circumstances, though that's to be expected when a majority of my waking hours are spent in a clinic. Perhaps too much of my time, but it's difficult to have much ado with your days off, when it's really more like nights off.

I suppose that's why I do enjoy having this network...To hear about what happens in this city that isn't related to monster attacks, or homeless seeking shelter by feigning sickness, or a total of four-hundred and thirty-eight critical and minor injuries caused by riots in the streets.

To be honest, although I was trained as a medical director in Romdeau, there's so much here I find myself utterly unprepared for...it's not a personal embarrassment, to call myself inexperienced, because these were never things I would have ever been expected to encounter. And a standard of living that Romdeau's medical science had achieved which is unthinkable here. In fact it's a welcome challenge, to work with the cases I see, but it's also humbling, to see how well my colleagues handle it all.

Some days I wish they'd transfer me up to the maternity ward. It's always a far more joyous affair on floor three.

[A quiet, wistful sound, and then he sighs, restless, bothered.]

Many things about this city, from the perspective of hospital staff, are truly very troubling. The sheer numbers, the frequency of accidents, and the kinds of things that people suffer. It's...alarming in ways that to take a while to fully settle in. Aside from the aftermath of frequent violence, of powers misused, there are also hereditary problems, disease, food poisoning, exposure to the elements... [That's right. He had an actual public health announcement in mind, before all this personal preamble came drifting loose. He clears his voice and straights somewhat.]

The forecast is looking very warm for the upcoming week, fellow newcomers. Do remember to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and remember to keep bottled water aside for after-siren. [A soft brief smile, directly at the camera, and then he reaches over to tap the recording off.]
