Are you a new arrival? Welcome to Siren's Port. My best advice would be to proceed with caution, but most of the fellow newcomers I've spoken with on the network have been sincere in their help and support.

I'm Daedalus Yumeno, I've been in the city a little over two months now.

Did the Greeters leave you with inadequately informed?

More or less, how long does one stay before they're no longer new? Either way, I would still consider myself new. Oh, that's nice to hear.

It's a pleasure, Daedalus Yumeno.

[ a pause ] Ah, not inadequately, but I would like to hear several opinions.

Until one has been assimilated, I suppose.

...and you are?

Assimilated? Adapt to the situation, you mean?

In a way. Once you can be called a citizen, there's no need to consider yourself a newcomer. Although even those of us who have been here for several months and have been successful in finding respectable work still seem to carry the stigma of being outsiders.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance as well.

The question of work. . . it seems like we're really meant to treat this as a new home. Unless that assumption is wrong. . .

That does seem to be the case. Admittedly, I would think it's an easier adjustment to fall in line with for those of us without much of a home to return to.

Yes, these places do seem to collect residents that way. But it leaves those with something to go back to out in the cold.

All the more reason to master the mysteries of The Core.

And how far have you gone down that path?

I haven't really been able to personally, but I hear that SERO is working toward those ends.

I wonder if it's nobility, curiosity or . . .

Ah, but lets not be so idealistic and just consider the facts. Whoever gains true control of city's Core and can get it to function properly holds significant influence over us all.

Exactly. Or perhaps it's greed and nothing more.

It would be foolish to consider only the capital gain. I can't imagine that SERO's innovators are that short-sighted.

Few are that short-sighted, but it does depend who ultimately pulls the strings.
