[The NV device must be sitting on some sort of low chair, considering that when the video comes on, the view is of the window of a typical starter apartment bedroom. Someone is sitting on the chair, half of his shirt still un-tucked and the other half only haphazardly so, before a hand reaches forward, tilting the camera up to a grinning face.]
So actually, it's not, uh, wait a sec-
[He props the camera between chair and knee, both hands going to his eternally skewed-to-the-left tie. He does the knots wrong (though that's a small detail, and probably only obvious to the skilled tie-wearer), despite trying to tip his head down to inspect his process and talk at the same time. Occasionally, his eyes glance back up at the camera.]
Anyway, like I was saying, it wasn't actually all that hard getting a job here with the local force. They're kind of laid back with who they hire! I didn't even get grilled as bad as I did when I was applying for the a...academ-...
[Oops, wait one second there. He has to get his finger unstuck from knot he somehow managed to tie his pinky into. It either took a great lack of coordination, or a great deal of it, depending on how you looked at it. It was almost harder learning to pretend to tie a tie incorrectly than it was learning to do it the right way. Eventually he manages, and he leans forward a little, free hands resting on his knees.]
So that makes it Detective Adachi addressing you guys now. Pretty awesome, huh? Just like old times.
[And there, in just a hair's breadth sliver of time, is a strange expression - nostalgic, distant, somber, and a little bit abashed. It disappears before you can blink, replaced by a smile.]
Yeah, just like old times!
