Narcissistic... Those people at that group had all been bullied into attending it by people they knew whose own selfishness extended to their wanting their loved one to 'fix themselves', too tired of living with a family member who is capable of being self-involved and for the most part keeping themselves busy. Group support--ludicrous. They sat around with their heads hanging low, and only came into their own when given the opportunity to speak about themselves. Truly, if you can't love yourself then who will love you?
I was asked to write and speak about other people--understand then, that I'm only doing this under duress.
Humans are by definition introspective. We exist within our own little bubbles, seeing the world through our own eyes from when we wake up to when we go asleep. In the morning, when you open your eyes, you don't immediately recall that it is nighttime for half a billion people on the other side of the planet. All you're aware of is that right now, for you, it is time to wake up.
I myself can no more pretend to live through the eyes of another as I can step outside my own body. It isn't possible. What is outside your scope is not necessarily beyond having an impact on your world, but usually until you come into contact with it, you cannot know.
The group I attended seemed to have the sole intention of making those in the group feel guilty for transgression against those people who consider themselves normal. It's a difficult one, considering that guilt requires empathy, and seemingly very few of the attendees seemed to possess it in any quantity. I felt sorry for several of them, in a way -- an ageing woman who had worked herself raw for her children, and in her convalesence was being punished for depending upon them, and a man not much older than me - a salesman - bullied into attending by his colleagues, his confidence knocked substantially by their diagnosis.
Perhaps in my confidence I looked alien to them. Perhaps they simply didn't notice me at all. I wonder.
[An alarm sounds, marking the time, and Light clicks it off.]
There. That's all you get.
[The feed cuts abruptly.]
[OOC: And in his own way still narcissistic, selfish and manipulative, just as described.]
