- Strange Sightings at the Core Site
A breaking news report just after siren tells of a security call-in from one of the government Voids stationed at the core this morning. After a significant reading in core activity, at first the guard suspected the arrival of yet another Newcomer. Interesting of note, it’s been nearly a month and a half since a steady flood of trans-dimensional strangers have landed on the sector 4 baseball diamond.
But this morning’s mystery didn’t herald the end of yet another dry spell in unwanted arrivals. Instead, after a noticeable flux of energy in the lifting darkness, the guard called in at 9:15am to report over two hundred and fifty strange, smooth round objects, like unbreakable glass baubles, covering the infield and quickly becoming buried by the falling snow. These balls emitted a strange sound.
After assessing that the orbs seemed “weird but harmless”, the guard signaled to the Newcomer Greeters to collect the objects off the infield.
“The last thing we need is another newcomer falling in, slipping on something hard and round out there, and giving themselves an even worse concussion than usual.” He told headquarters at City Hall gruffly, when questioned about the decision. Many are concerned about what these strange objects are, and if the newcomers should be permitted to keep such things, although it appears to be too late to demand the newcomers to return them.
“It’s far from the worst thing The Core could’ve spat up” The Void guard shrugged in his own defense. “Maybe we should have confiscated them for further analysis. Too late now.” The Core Guard Corps have removed him from duty until further review of his judgement call can be made.
- Is The Batman Dead?
One of the local bounty hunters called in today to report that he may have killed the Batman last night. Saying his name was "Renegade", he said that he saw a black cape as he was on a job and decided he'd collect the large sum of money on the vigilante's head. He took a few shots and said that he hit the figure twice. Still, the masked vigilante escaped into the night and there was no evidence in the morning of any body or blood trail.
"I'm telling you, that guy's a goner," the man said. "Maybe he was Darkness chow."
St. Matthew, however, declined to give over the bounty until there was proof. "Pretty pissed I didn't look for his body when I had the chance," Renegade said. "Could've gotten the money. Now I got to wait around for something to show up."
