[The video feed turns on to reveal a blur of motion, it’s pretty much impossible to make out any recognizable shape seeing as the person with the NV is moving at speeds well beyond that of sound. Then abruptly, it stops and open sky can be seen and then the masked face of Kid Flash is visible from an angle that takes it look like his NV is attached ( Read more... )

[ She easily could have told him that. Before he rushed off at the speed of sound, she easily could have told him that and saved him the trouble. She doesn't turn on the NV just yet, releasing a sigh, before she switches on audio feed. ]

How far did you go from the city, kid? [ She tried to speak in her usual calm voice, but there's a distinct utterance to her words that makes her sound more serious than usual. Seeing how she called him a 'kid', it would normally serve as a good indicator, but she used the fact that it was half of his name to conceal her slip of the tongue. ]

Hey beautiful. [Gonna just let the "kid" thing slide.] Well, I got a couple kilometers out on the water before I had to turn back. [Looking kinda put-out, but then he forces a half grin.] No worries though, I'll try something else another day.

[ One of these days, she's going to ask how he can consider her beautiful when he hasn't even see her without her hood, but not today. Not on the day that he probably ran halfway to his death. ]

You're not really planning on trying to go out farther, are you? You keep that up, and you'll spell out an early death sentence for yourself. [ There's a sense of firmness in her voice, hoping that he would understand the gravity of it. ]

And even if you did manage to leave the city, what would that accomplish? This isn't really your world, unless yours coincidentally happens to have an island with a city known as Siren's Port in it.

[He just calls women that, most of them anyway. And beauty isn't just something found in appearance. He frowns a little and might be getting just a bit defensive.]

Well, if I have to be stuck in another dimension I'd at least like to be able to go other places. Being trapped on one little island will get boring fast. [A pause and he scratches the top of his head.] But as much as I like pushing limits, I'm not gonna go out farther.

[ Relieved, she lets out her breath like she had been holding it. ] Good.

I don't know what you're used to back home, but there are a lot of things you can do here, even if it's limited to a single island. [ A brief pause. ] By the way, have you eaten yet?

[ She meant to ask him about his hobbies to give him a suggestion to tackle his boredom, but his condition bothers her. Trying to resist the Pull would certainly leave him in a poor state, and while it was only temporary, she didn't like to leave it unaddressed. ]

Well, when you can get to another country within minutes, being stuck in one city feels claustrophobic.

And maaan, please don't ask me about food.

[He has eaten, but since he got here it's nowhere near enough for someone with his metabolism. It takes money he doesn't have to feed himself properly. Hence the job search.]

Well, aside from traveling to different countries, what else do you normally like doing?

Oh, if you're hungry, I can prepare you something. [ It wouldn't be anything fancy, but it should still be sufficient for his stomach -- or so she thinks. ]

Trust me, you don't want to try and feed me. But thanks. [His tone is joking and grateful.]

And I guess most of the things I liked doing back home involved my friends and my un- mentor, The Flash.

I don't have much experience with superheroes, but...is that what he was? This un-mentor of yours, The Flash?

[ While she could be wrong, the name itself sounded like one that a superhero would wield, strictly based off her time in Siren's Port. She personally found it a little amusing in how their titles were often an obvious statement -- save for Deadpool on the assumption that he was one -- but at the same time, it was difficult to understand. If they were going to save people with an undisclosed identity, did they really need all that flashiness? ]
