It's not uncommon to pose open hypothetical questions over the network- I know that happens quite often, and some of you probably tire of it. Feel free to skip this one, then, if there is anything more pressing on your time.

My working colleagues have yet again made lively and intelligent discussion of the morning carpool, and so I've spent the ( Read more... )

I did once. It isn't something which I would advocate, however.

Would you share with me your reasoning then, Doctor?

The expansion of knowledge. It was early in my career, and life; it's afforded me many things but at the cost of much else.

And so the change is something you'd recant, if you could?

I wouldn't. Although there is much that I regret there is much that I would have been unable to do without it.

My lifespan.

I mentioned once that I became a doctor through my father, that my study of abnormals was influenced by him. It began there.

You stumbled upon something to grant you longevity?

Longevity was what I received from it.

Vampire blood. I derived a serum from it. Injecting it granted me longevity.

But that doesn't grant you other Vampiric traits?

I'm human... with some differences. I mentioned to you when Jinx was in hospital that my blood was capable of extending life; that is from my longevity. Along with that I have a heightened immune system and a reduced need to sleep.

What separates me from Vampires is my mortality. [ And the lack of needing blood thing ]

Would you be adverse to a little demonstration, sometime?

I've done extensive work with the cells of organisms which...well, they greatly exceed the hayflick limit, but are for all intents and purposes, immortal.

I'd like a look, if you don't mind, side by side.

Providing that a look is all that occurs.

Yes, of course! You can remain at my side.

There are certain things about my work that I'd like to share with you.

Then I have no objections.

I would gladly listen.

Under one condition-

That you agree to serve as primary doctor to a certain patient of mine, in the event that I should ever disappear from here, or be unable to.
