News Report: Dragon Demolishes SERO Docks

[In news footage shot yesterday evening, a violet-skinned reporter is standing in front of SERO docks- or the remnants of them. ]

I’m Linda DuMont, coming to you from SERO Pier North 1 & 2, where a large black dragon appeared earlier this afternoon around 3pm and rampaged through the area, causing the disastrous damages seen behind me.

[It’s a busy scene; an extensive workforce is in action. Siren’s Port Fire Department is out on small boats and overhead choppers, containing and putting out an oil spill which has ignited on the surface of the water. There is extensive damage and a taped-off cleanup area, and with several of the shipping docks smoldering and hissing with what appears to be heavy acidic corrosion.Crates and shipping pallets have been overturned into the water, and several workers are trying to fish these out, or remove the larger spilled containers with cranes.]

Bystanders claim that the creature vanished as quickly as it appeared, after setting fire to an oil drum it knocked off one of the boats and destroying the docks. SERO Security Forces have closed off the area, and are looking into potential suspects among AGI agents, already calling the attack a “sabotage effort”.

One brave dockworker caught the following footage on his NV camera:

[ The broadcast cuts to this brief clip, one which will replay over several news broadcasts over the following days.

The camerawork is shaky and blurry, but obviously at the docks. There's something big and dark thrashing around off-center in the frame, and a whole lot of screeching going on. It's too loud for the pretty awful audio quality of this particular video sample, and distorts the audio a few times.

Then some big black scalloped wings snap open, a twisting thing resolves itself into a snaky neck and a reptilian head, and the camera focuses on what is definitely a dragon. It screams again and snaps some pretty huge teeth at… apparently nothing, in the air in front of it. There's a much smaller red and blue blur in and out of the frame, but the dragon doesn't seem to be going after it. It seems to prefer clawing and snapping at a whole lot of nothing.

The fight against invisible somethings carries on for a while, with that red and blue blur sometimes accompanied by a vaguely humanoid-shaped flickering blackness, in and out around the dragon, scoring blows against it now and then. A flailing tail tears into the side of a warehouse, while madly flapping wings catch and knock apart a stack of wooden crates. The debris flies toward the camera, and with a yelp, the enterprising cameraman scrambles backward, cutting the feed. ]

This footage suggests that the beast was defending itself, rather than launching a coordinated, strategic attack. Still, officials are looking into terrorist activity, citing the explosion at a SERO genetics facility back in March.

Although there were thankfully no deaths and few injuries, the cost of this tragedy will be felt in the coming weeks. The shipment docked in port contained offshore medications, medical supplies, and chemicals used in the production of SERO pharmaceuticals.

Loss of half its shipping piers sets SERO’s import operations back at least several weeks until the damages can be repaired, and SERO’s Hospitals and Seronex Pharmacies have already claimed their remaining stores of import supplies for affiliated use only, until stocks can be fully replenished.

What does this mean for the rest of us? Well- I’d get out and get your basics over-the-counters off the shelves while you still can, if I were you.

- Flood Warnings in Effect
Heavy rains throughout the past few weeks have caused flooding in some of the lower-lying areas of the port, with coastal areas of Sector 3 covered in ankle-deep water, as well as some sewers in the older neighborhoods of Sectors 9 and 4, completely filled and spilling waste sewage into the watery streets. Sitting water is up to a foot and a half at some intersections. Worst of all, the night hideaway in the Sector 10 slums has been slowly filling with water, making the large darkness proofed cavern unsuitable for an emergency homeless shelter.

- Today is Teacher’s Appreciation Day, and all school teachers and university professors are receiving a small thank-you token of a rare, juicy Grayson Apple, courtesy of Graysons Orchards. The small note attached reminds educators that these are not to be eaten during darkness.
