[The figure on the hologram gives utter no hints of its location. It’s not a flickering hologram in pales blues - in fact, it’s very well rendered and the bright, blood red and deep, royal purple once born of sea creatures are almost blinding next to each other, the red body suit bleeding into the purple gloves, boots, and cape. No face is seen but a scarlet helmet very familiar to those of certain worlds is, complete with a pulsing pink-white glow were eyes should be. For a moment the figure just stares, heavily muscled arms crossed over a massive chest. When he does begin to speak, the voice is utterly without accent - no trace of its origins, deep, firm. Commanding, unyielding, perfectly calm and surprisingly soft in volume. And so. Very. Very. Cold. While it might sound a little like ‘Michael Xavier’ it’s been though a voice modifier to alter it enough that it more easily could not be - nor is there any trace of the altering. It’s not posted from a registered NV, and traces back to somewhere in near the Docks - and as have been activated in the middle of several months ago.]
Recently, horrid actions have occurred. A young girl was murdered. Infection spread though the public. There have been other deaths recently. Other accidents and injuries. Some, because children with fledging powers are being forced into adult roles, forced to abandon the education which would teach them control and remove them from dangerous situations. Some, because children - and adults - come from a world where powers are not “real” or are represented in an extremely small population, too small to be considered a combat factor or something one need address. Others because some feel no need to learn to control their powers or hungers and see the citizens of this small island as nothing more than tools to be used for their advancement. And yet more others because they have acted under the mistaken belief they cannot be touched, despite having no power, or locking it away, against those who embrace fully what they are or who have years of practice at it.
I would hope people are coming to their senses. This is not your home world. Your rules, your culture, your standards for behaviour may not apply here. There is a good deal of ethnocentrism run a muck here, which is not only harming the community in the eyes of outsiders but harming the community from within.
For those who come from worlds where powers are relatively or more common, they have a running start. They understand fisticuffs with a stranger can prove lethal, understand caution is needed, and understand it is possible for a fight to be fifteen on one and still be a fair fight. They understand how to apply their powers, their gifts, or not in terms of everyday life, comfort, employment, and education or have at least seen it done. They may or may not have powers themselves, they may have practice at them. They understand, or they should understand ignoring those powers will only cause a problem later.
Those of you who do not have those with powers in your world should seek out those who do, and make an attempt to understand what a level playing field is, when you are speaking of people with powers. Seek to learn about the powers present on the island, what forms they may take, and how to recognize an emerging power.
Those of you who live with a denial that you have powers or will ever develop them - understand you are highly unlikely to be a member of the extreme minority here.
The Core Pulls for a reason and there is no evidence to support you not being given a power. If you have been here a year or older, then perhaps you may not - or you may not have noticed one yet. Those who have only arrived in the past four months should understand this, and be prepared for this. If a power does emerge, as frightening or shocking as it may be, it is important to stay calm.
There are many who have made it known powers are known and understood in their worlds. Seek them out; receive training for what you do not understand.
Powers are not something ‘extra’ in others, any more than a fully trained SEAL with six knives and five fire arms are ‘extra’. They are an unknown with any person you meet - something to factor and consider. Getting yourself injured or killed because of your own stupidity or hubris isn’t only traumatizing to you. Do your fellow Newcomers the kindness of not forcing them to be participants or witnesses in your own suicide.
Most importantly: Stay out of affairs in which you have comprehension or training to deal with.
