[It seems as if someone's found his way to the top of a very tall building, he's casually standing on a ledge but doesn't seem to fear falling at all. There's still daylight left but it's fading fast and the man doesn't seem to care at all. His gaze is fixed on the city below him as if searching for something.]So this is Siren's Port. Strange, I ( Read more... )

[At first Mary is frozen, heart stopped as she stares at the screen, staring and not believing, not daring to believe or pretending to understand the sight of her husband on the screen, healthy and younger than she remembers. Then that other name passes his lips, and his foreign body language and unfamiliar speech hit her in a rush that makes her glad she was already sitting down.]

You. [She stops and licks her lips, eyes never once wavering. She can barely hear herself over the blood roaring in her ears.] Get out of him. Now.

[This could be a demon or an angel and some part of Mary knows this. Some small kernel of the measured, rational hunter in her sees Chuck's fearful response and should suggest caution, but she doesn't care. This is her husband. No.]

[When he'd took his first step onto the baseball field Michael had known this moment would come. Had known that Mary would demand her husband back and he had tried. Tried to return to heaven even though he knew it wasn't even the same world - wouldn't have been the same home. He'd even tried to return to his own world seeing as how he had duties and siblings he needed to attend to but everything he tried had failed.

Mary's a fierce determined woman and would do anything to get John back - he knew that. Arranged for it to be like that so he merely smiles at her sympathetically.] I would if I could, Mary. He's safe with me.

[Her eyes are just a little wild, on-edge in a way that only someone very perceptive could see a woman on the edge of being extremely stupid. Everyone else would just see her staring, jaw tightening, a woman looking in over her head but steeling herself against a hurricane. That's what he is, isn't he? An archangel. Sodom and Gomorrah, apparently fiddling with destiny. Mary is a sometimes-religious woman and she knows, oh, she knows just how small humans can be, and how breakable.

She's seen it. She's looked into her father's eyes and seen only inhuman viciousness in the vast nothing of the eyes she knew, and she's held John in her arms before, done anything for him, and suffered the consequences. Angels on high and demons of Hell have followed her, shouting down the line that she is small, she can do nothing, she is an object of destiny and apparently just one more dead Disney mom biting the dust. So it's with no ignorance or stupidity at all that she looks a nigh-omnipotent being in the eye and says the first word that comes to ( ... )

[She reminds him of a lioness. A fierce noble creature that would fight for it's cubs and king, would even die for them over and over if given the choice, stubborn until the very end. Humans like her always made humanity worth watching in the brief moments he had to himself. It was in them that he could see why his Father loved them so much and if he was honest with himself they were part of the reason why he wanted to bring them peace on Earth.

Yet Michael is not intimidated by her in the slightest. Instead he'll just continue to stare her down.]

I can't do that Mary. John will be returned to you in time but for now he's allowed me to use him as a vessel.

[Mary meets his eyes defiantly, arms moving in a way that suggests that, just off screen, her hand is tightening reflexively around a shotgun. It's dangerous to come up against a person- entity so powerful. But she was raised a hunter and bred to fight. Fear is just the armor that proves you're still human.]

I know my husband. John wouldn't do that without being coerced.

[If she really wants to take him on then Mary should find a better weapon than a shotgun. He wouldn't even flinch with it pointed at his head. One hand slides into John's coat pocket while other other is still holding the NV.]

He did it to save you from a rogue angel. [There's a look on his face, one that says she should know all about sacrifices they will do for each other. One that would probably put John on the couch if he gave her.]

That never happened. You're lying.

I'm not, I merely made you forget it. It was better that way. [Brb, digging stuff up from her past.] You didn't completely forget. There's a small part of you that still remembers. The garage sale when you purchased an angel figurine for your son's nursery, the phrase you tell him every night before bed.

[Her jaw drops but after a brief internal struggle she definitely finds something to be vocal about.]

You were in my mind? You erased my memories?

Just a few hours worth of memories. It was better for the baby if you didn't remember. John too. The rest I know because we were watching over you and your family.

The angel who's been watching over humanity since its creation. [SMUGGITYSMUGSMUG.]

I don't care if you're Sister Mary Francis, the "rogue angel" isn't here and you have no right to keep possessing him, so GET OUT OF MY HUSBAND.

How do you know the rogue angel isn't here? They could be for all you know.

I- I don't even care. You're the one who's hurting someone I love.

[If she seems much more angry than the situation calls for, half of this is the sheer stress of meeting religious figures face to face and experiencing them as nothing more than monsters with god complexes and the ability to slowly shatter her faith.]

[That makes him smile. Oh Mary if you only knew.]

John is safe with me. In fact, I'll protect him as if my very life depends on it.
