[Nina looks a little pensive when the feed clicks on but not especially upset or sad. After a moment to collect her thoughts, she speaks.]
I feel like I should have more to say here, but I haven't done many interesting things lately-a lot of work and studying. I guess if I talked about what I'm learning, that would mean I really know it, but does it count if there aren't people listening? Maybe it depends.
It's really, really important for newcomers to talk to each other, though. That's what I think. Even if we're from all kinds of worlds, we're still a community here. Even if we don't all like each other.
I was thinking today that even though this world is very different from home, in some ways, it isn't really. All these bad things in the news, the earthquake-people stuffer a lot, but they pick back up and keep going. They get stronger.
[For a moment she looks sad, and then she brightens up.]
I'm glad to have the chance to help make people stronger, at least a little bit. I've been working part time at Portside, helping teach aikido. Most of my students are kids, but we're starting new rounds for several adult classes soon, so if anyone's interested in learning, now's a really good time!
And come say hello if you do. I'd like to meet more people.
