[ It is strange, to see his daughter adapting and...managing here, like others her age. Almost as though she had lived like this for a time.

It makes him wonder, briefly, if he has done a terrible thing by raising her how he did. It is a thought he does not entertain for long. ]

[ 'Adapting' would be giving her too much credit. She has been this way since departing with the Lemures; if not for the help of strangers she would be no better than a flightless chick flung from its nest, at least at the start. The question, even from him, takes her by surprise-- she does not fully know the answer herself. ]

No. I do housework as payment for living here, instead of paying rent. That was the agreement for allowing my residence in this house.

I see. And the others in that house...what are they like?

[ She could only comply with his wishes, if he wants to keep those close to her under surveillance. It will be a while yet before she realises her own feelings towards any of these people herself. ]
