Robotic armor and the cat problems in the news, you would think this city doesn't have too many big problems. [She pauses, fingers tapping against the wooden kitchen table she's sitting at.]Or maybe the problem is that the big problems are talked about once, and then almost forgotten by the next day. I've been going through the news over the past ( Read more... )

I pay attention to MAN and whatever's reported about the Darkness baby, at least. Newcomers don't really write the news and I guess maybe most of the populace here is just jaded about the big problems.

Anyway, I haven't heard about anyone with tons of powers getting even more of them, but who knows how public people are about gaining or losing powers anyway? Maybe normal people are relieved to be a little more on par with the behemoths in some way or another.

If Newcomers wrote the news more, would you read more of it?

[It takes a moment before she answers the next.] Maybe if everyone was powered down instead of powered up when they got here...

I read it all, I just don't necessarily think all of it is relevant and those are what stick out in my mind. I realize that news would supposedly reveal relevant trends but when it's restaurant reviews, I don't know about that.

You would probably have to talk to the Core about getting that one enacted.

Are you growing powers?

There's a lot that's actually kept out of the news, it makes you wonder why that is.

If I could get an interview with the Core, I would be set for life.

I'm not sure.

Ignorant people are easy to fool, I suppose.

You don't want to?

Smart people are easy to fool as well.

I'm not sure. I'm not used to having powers.

Smart people can be ignorant. Ignorance can be helped.

Is that really enough to make you want to give up any powers you manifest?

Anyone can be ignorant, it just depends on how hard they work at it.

It might be. I never really thought about having them or wanting them, and if they seem more... bad, then good, then maybe I don't want to deal with them at all.

You aren't vomiting up endless streams of raw sewage, are you?

Not yet, no.

I think that's about the worst power I've heard of, so at least you're not doing that.

And here I thought growing meat out of the ground was one of the worst.

The young man didn't seem too bothered by his power.

In fact, if you look back in the news, there's an article about it.

I think I would have seen that before.

It's true. Maybe you should ask around if you don't believe me, or go back and read a bit more closely.

I'll do that, then.
