I'm certain many of you heard of the incident on Hampton Wilkes Farm. [His manner is grave.] It was shocking, and it serves as a potent reminder of just how much work we have to do even in the wake of our favorable verdict.

Remember, however: that murder was the work of a madman. While the decision handed down on Tuesday was without question the catalyst for the incident, it was not the cause of it. I speak to all who assisted in the case and all who were in favor of it: do not feel guilt nor responsibility for what Wilkes did.

I will be working as a defense attorney, working with Wright and Co. law offices. I will primarily be taking on the cases of currently enslaved persons appealing their freedom, though I will also be acting at times as a criminal defense attorney. If any have legal matters, I should be glad to represent them.

[And then he clears his throat, and:]
