I appreciate the effort you took in taking care of one of my family, thank you very much. [He bows low to her. Azula was crazy, but she would likely be lost in such a place, it was nice that some strangers cared for her. He then straightens himself back up]

You'll have to excuse an old man's curiousity, but how long was she here for, and how well did you get to know her?

I think she was here almost a year. I... Azula was untrusting of just about everyone. She didn't want anyone to get close. Up until I took her in, she slept on the streets, or in the mall. I tried to help, but I doubt that even before she left, she trusted that I wasn't going to turn on her.

There is no need to be sorry. I am certain you did all you could for her. She was always a very intelligent girl, but was not able to understand people at a close level. She was very dedicated to her father, but he did not return that dedication. Did she speak of our world to you often?

No not often. [She scratches Medea's ears.] And if she did, it was normally in the context of how it had taught her not to trust anyone.

I know she called herself 'FireLord', though I refused to call her that. I tried to teach her kindness. It seemed to be the thing that she least understood.

That is truly a pity. It does not surprise me, but it is sad to see family in such a state.

Teaching kindness to Azula would be a difficult task, even as a child she did not seem to understand it. For her, kindness is a weakness, something to be exploited. You are very kind to try to teach it to her however.

It was a small thing that I could do. There are a few on this island that considered her a friend, even though I doubt she did the same.

It is an unfortunate thing that she didn't truly understand people at a more intimate level, and believed fear would trump love always. [He shakes his head]

I am pleased she managed to make friends, I believe such people would be a positive influence on her life. Everyone has the potential to change, no matter how they have lived their lives previously.
