...Unfortunately, it's never as easy as black and white, no matter where you are.
People are capable of terrible things in the right circumstances. That's part of being human. But it's never too late to change, if they make the choice. And that's part of being human, too.
[Doesn't mean they will change, every time. Doesn't mean people can always afford to grant the opportunity for them to change their minds. But Snake has seen what war can do to people. Experienced it firsthand, from both angles. The sort of things he's done, he doesn't have it in him to condemn anyone for good very easily. He's not a good person by a long shot. He's not a monster, either.]

Doing monstrous things doesn't make someone a monster in my eyes either. I'm not sure if there's a point that I would call someone a monster at all. But I'm not sure.
[And a matching silence before he musters a vague reply.]
I was attacked, but I'm fine now. It's nothing to be concerned about.

You're overcomplicating it. "Monster" is just a word like any other. Whether you use it or not doesn't really matter. Don't worry so much about that until you know just what it means to you.
[Vague, but what happened to this guy isn't really any of his business, either. If he's not going to tell, Snake doesn't have much of a reason to press.]

[A little familiar, but it's probably because of the similarity to Kazuhira Miller, his old teacher who had been in the city briefly several months back. In any case something was familiar here, but he was never great with people. or facial recognition.]
[A bit of a pause as he considers it, but he files the name away and offers his own in return.]

[It's mostly the truth. They're only close on the genetic level, and Snake couldn't care less about his genes. Brothers, yes. Identical twins, even. But Snake doesn't actually claim him as family by a long shot.]

He is not their son. They would not treat his as such. ... Further still, they would likely settle blind blame on him for the loss of their real child, despite the fact his body would still be in front of them.
