[Alice had arrived the night before to quite a horrific sight. No sooner had she touched down in the diamond had someone tried to cajole her to go hide in the dugout while the sirens blared. And with it, of course, came the corruption that shifted the island. She had stayed up the entire night while the few others in the dugout slept, her eyes searching the expanse of the Darkness for familiar signs of what she thought she left behind.
This isn't my Wonderland, she tried to tell herself. She's still trying to reassure herself of that fact now as she sits in her new apartment, book stretched in her lap.]
The man I spoke to last night tried to explain to me how this 'NV' works. It looks like little more than a journal, really, but he said that it allows others to see what I'm writing?
[Here, she pauses. She has to keep what she writes to a minimum. This world is strange to her, and that's a peculiar statement from one such as Alice.]
I'm not sure if I can really believe such a thing! But this place is so odd already that it must be true...
[She frowns deeply.]
...Or perhaps I've simply gone mad again. Another cruel joke.
[She skewers a bit of her page with the pen she's holding. After a moment, she continues writing, unaware that anyone could hear her brief outburst.]
Is it really July 4th, 2011?
