Twelfth Frost -- Voice
[There's a rising plume of water, one that might possibly have been visible from afar if Hitsugaya didn't abruptly freeze it into a plume of ice and subsequently shatter it. He's having none of this.]
"You're like them! I knew it! Half-devil child spawned from the Darkness! You need to be purged!"
[Sofia's words shouldn't strike a nerve, but they do. Tch. Just like in Rukongai, people thinking him something demonic. Goddamn it, he's not even doing anything wrong. He hasn't even attacked her; that had been purely in defense.
[She flicks one hand, and the ocean's surface ripples violently again, sending a controlled blast of water to attempt to drag him below the surface. But with the scarcest motion of his blade, this too freezes, scarcely an inch from his feet. If throwing water at him is really all she can do, then she has no chance.
[He expects the shriek of frustration, but doesn't expect the sudden charge in his direction; she'd been keeping her distance and using her power against him all this time. He doesn't bother with shunpo. He doesn't think it necessary, but perhaps he should have done it after all; she catches him a bit on his sidestep, and his balance is just awkward enough for him to stumble to the ground.
[The roar of a wave greets his his ears before he even looks up, and this wave is nowhere near as controlled as the previous one. Is the damn woman trying to drown them both?
[A swift arc of Hyourinmaru freezes the wave just before it crashes down, and at the same time, he extends his free hand.] Bakudou no ichi: sai!
[The spell pins Sofia's arms to her sides, and her ankles together, rendering her mostly harmless. It does not, however, render her quiet. In a better mood, Hitsugaya might have been impressed by the wide variety of obscenities she's screaming at him, but instead he's just annoyed.]
"I'll not be your next victim, you monstrous brat! I know what you've done! What those same beasts would have done if I hadn't stopped them!"
[He grinds his teeth as he approaches her. The way she speaks disgusts him.] Those so-called "beasts" were your own children, and they'd never done anything. You're supposed to protect family. Not kill them.
[Before she can speak and no doubt infuriate him more, he jabs Hyourinmaru's hilt to her temple, and she collapses, unconscious, from the blow. A simple kidou could have knocked her out just the same, but it wouldn't have been as satisfying. So many of the things she'd said just struck him the wrong way; he'd needed to actually hit something.]

Another one off the streets.
[Oddly, after a long pause he actually says something else; Sofia's words have dredged up uncomfortable memories for him, and he sounds vaguely bitter.] People convince themselves of stupid things far too easily.
