[Joe is sitting in the waiting area of a the inking parlor featured in Sunday's newsfeed. There's a thick binder of design samples open over his lap.]
I'm down at the new place in the mall- going to get a tattoo. One of the cool ones that only show up under blacklight- lots of the regular crowd at Twins have just got them, they look really great, and so I figure- what's better for a DJ to have, right?
I'm stuck between designs, though. The guy here draws them up custom. So we talked a bit before, and there's this-
[The camera turns down to a blank white sheet of paper, which he slides under a purple-tinted desklamp on the coffeetable- and then the ink blazes to life, glowing bright in blues, purples and reds.
It's a freeform, tribal-inspired design with distinctive jagged winged shapes, resembling the dragon-winged motifs prominent in his
blade, if you've ever been privy to see it. There are also some highlighted cyberpunk accents, and the design is made to wrap around an upper arm.]
I could get all of that done in just one session. Then there's this...
[The second is a symmetrical design, star-shaped and divided like lit stained-glass, also featuring dragon motifs. There's a shape like a keyhole at its center. When he flips the overhead blacklight off, the outlining remains.]
Which I'd need to come back and do all the UV fill-ins for, and just do the black inking today. You'd be able to see that part all the time...
I can't decide. What do you think?
