[ When the audio kicks in, it catches part of a conversation because Faith's busy trying to get her NV to work while being technologically retarded and listening to the SERO operative try his little helpful immigration bull. It starts with a man's professional-sounding voice, though his statement is clipped. ] -- from?Little bit of everywhere, I ( Read more... )

The Core was inactive for a while, and in the meantime one of the companies was allowed access to it. They're responsible for your overly friendly greeting.

Can I get a Dummies guide for what this Core crashing out with the inactivity means? Ten words or less.

Not bad. [ she's chuckling a little. ] So, how come SERO thinks they got dibs on this thing? I say we take a look. Or, y'know, somebody a little more equipped than me takes a look and sees what they can make of it.

It's disturbing how easy caveman speak comes to me.

Well, because SERO has more money and influence than just about anyone.

Even budgeted yourself a little congrats. Hell, I'm impressed. [ but she drops the amusement fast enough. ] More money, more influence ... they got the numbers to back it up? Sure, their guys are nasty, but I'm betting if we pool what we've got, we could be a helluva lot nastier.

I'm listenin'. [ Yeah, she got her ass kicked six ways from Sunday by them, and feeling powerless is pretty obvious to Slayers when it happens, and it wasn't a good feeling. ] Big guys, like I couldn't put a bruise on a single one of 'em. What kinda whammy have they got working for 'em?

Mostly they strip away any special abilities you have. Supernatural, magical, mutated, you name it they make it go away when you're around them.

Yeah, I felt that. Not a big fan. How's it work? I mean, they gotta have some kinda witchy juju going on, right?

Not entirely sure. Some people who come here don't have powers in their world, but get them when they arrive. Might just be people who have abilities to take away other abilities or SERO might have made them.
