Gruesome Killings Continue to Baffle Investigators
Another body was found in a string of murders, on the evening of the 21st. A young woman was found on the Skye Medical Grounds, dropped at the base of a fountain. The head was found strapped to the arms of the statue in the center, and the eyes were removed. One was found in the fountain during the search for evidence.
The body was identified this morning as Rachel Moore, 15. She was last seen walking home from school in sector 8. There was no sign of a struggle or an attack nearby. Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward and are currently hoping to find evidence on the security footage from the hospital grounds to help catch this murderer.
Core Problems; Easy Fix?
Could radio waves be the cause of all the cities current power troubles? The Core malfunction that has held the city on the edge of chaos might have had a very simple answer all along. After a week of research, it was found that the possibility that a frequency from radio waves of all things might be the cause of the problem.
Construction of the doorway into the Core started on April the 15th, and SERO began setting up a new, high tech and secure, building to protect the entrance to the core from those wishing it harm.
One researcher (who asked to remain anonymous) sat down with the reporter last night and explained the problem, saying it was necessary that the Port be made aware of what the problem was. The researcher was given full support from SERO to explain the situation, but he still didn't wish to show his face.
[There's a video embedded, and it shows a shadowed figure. When they speak, their voice has obviously been run through heavy distortion.]
“When we're down in the tunnels that lead to the main room, there is a huge disturbance with most of our equipment. We couldn't figure it out. We aren't able to use most forms of communication devices, most computer systems start completely shutting down, it's complete and utter failure. We finally resorted to using walkie-talkies and morse code and whatever old radios people could dig out of the stored equipment cause the signals traveled well enough. We'd been using this system for a few days when the core fluctuated suddenly. It knocked out everything that was running at the time, so we had no way but trial and error to figure out what had triggered the upset. After some time and study, it seems the only explanation is that a type of radio frequency caused the core to fluctuate when in close proximity. So we're looking into radio frequencies at the moment to try and find which one it is that disturbs it, once we know that, we can find a way to block it or discontinue it from use. If that is done, we believe the core should return to normal.”

Negotiations are being made now with the Independent Radio Towers in order to use their services in investigating this phenomenon. Researchers at the core are currently without communication of any kind, unable to communicate with the outside world other then taking hand written notes and relaying messages down the labyrinth of sterile halls and back to the surface. It is unsure to what extent the Core will reacts to the different radio waves or other forms of current technology, because of this a ban on all electronic devices is currently in effect when inside the Core site.
Scientists speculate on the sensitivity of the core, and if they will be able to contact or communicate with it through this mysterious frequency, but for now they are simply trying to understand how stable the core is itself and stop it from causing further chaos.
Reginald Townshed has stepped forward to make an formal apology and promises stricter measures, assuring that all possible oversights like this again will be taken care of much faster. "The interest of the city itself is the priority and the chaos that has overcome the city this week is inexcusable." said Townshed, in an interview that was given this morning. When he stepped down and a government issued scientist working on the Core Project stepped up to the podium questions were opened to the press, they were immediately overwhelmed by the mass of reporters and onlookers who all began trying to ask questions simultaneously, and the conference was ended an hour and a half early even though the SPPD had complete control over the situation and nothing violent occurred.
Critics of SERO's actions in controlling the Core and of Redgrave handing it over are calling this a 'great victory' in showing how silly the idea was in the first place.
[Radio Frequency Testing starts at Noon sharp. Different Radio signals will be tested with an 'emergency Broadcasting System” style sound. At 12:21PM (PST/Siren's Port Time) exactly the frequency will have been discovered and shut down, banned. Powers will revert back to normal as the Core stops fluctuating.]
Other News:
- Activists and protesters have gathered around the outside fences of the core site, yet again. Dozens of people carrying picket signs saying “Out of sight out of mind!” and “Break the Core, You break the city!” were seen just outside the empty Newcomer Apartments and the SERO trailers parked in the parking lot. They haven't left and started organizing marches around key areas sometime late yesterday afternoon. No trouble has formed other then larger groups of people coming to try and see what is going on over the course of the protest.
- Darkness Report - Self proclaimed Darkness expert, Darwin Watts, reported a spike in darkness activity over the past week. It is unknown if this has to do with the current Core malfunctions or the time of year, but that the creatures of the night seem to have grown more aggressive and more agitated as time has gone on. There is hope that with the current attempt to solve what is bothering the core that the darkness as well will simmer down. Twelve new reports of darkness proofing failure crossed were reported to the SPPD, with growing worry that some of the less fortunate citizens out there might find themselves with a house full of darkness. Extra precautions are advised while checking your homes and going about your nightly routines.
- Robotics Plant Stops Takeover - Blue Rebo Robotics, known Port wide for it's manufacturing of Robotics for children and children at heart, experienced a small robotic takeover yesterday. The machines manufactured and run by the company suddenly came to life sometime around nine in the morning and attempted a full scale war on their creators. Workers in the plant ran for their lives as the robots attempted to annihilate any and all living things they could find, drawing plastic dart guns and taking aim at each worker. The robots were shut down with ease, and the attack was stopped after a mere three hours as a few brave men risked themselves to run through the factory, pulling the plug on each and every one of the bots to shut them down. The cause of the problems? A disgruntled worker who was practicing robotic programing in order to really try and take over the world. He implanted the program on April 19th and watched the chaos happen as the 21st came around, locking himself up the main office with the override computer and welding the door shut. The worker has since been taken in on multiple counts, and is awaiting a court appearance. None of the workers seem to have been severely hurt, though a few were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, the worst of which was a man thrown from an automated forklift that worked as part of the assembly line. Blue Rebo Robotics will continue to build small child toy robots, but now with stronger set of guidelines for hiring, a better programing of the Robotic Code (The Three Golden Rules) within it's system, and more than one way to override in case of a hostile takeover.
