Only half listening to the girl as she continued to weave her fantasy, Ella sucked in a breath of surprise when she spied a vaguely humanlike creature - creature, because the way it stood, hunged over with long clawed hands - there was no way it was human. She was ready to back up since it hadn't noticed them yet - somehow - when Hattie bumped into her, sending her stumbling forward with a yelp.
Well! From the gurgling growl ahead of her, that beast just spotted them. That aside, Ella winced at the slap of the fan, "Ouch yourself!" She snapped. Without so much as asking permission, she grabbed the fan out of the girl's hand. "Run." She warned Hattie, who must surely see the humanoid, darkness creature just ahead of them.
That said, Ella pivoted and whipped the fan at the monster with a flick of the wrist. All it really did was distract it, but if it was enough to get its attnention away from Hattie (nevermind she didn't know about Hattie's core-given power) then it worked.

More importantly, her fan got snatched, "Ella!" she gasped in shock, not realizing until the moment of impact that her fan was used as a weapon. Her jaw dropped. After a couple of seconds she screamed, turned and run away. This may be the only time she's ever actually listened to her step-sisters orders.
You're on your own, Ella, and you will be missed! Though take comfort in that after about fifteen steps, Hattie tripped over nothing and fell.

Ella dodged around it, and the beast spun to give pursuit. "Whoa-- faster than I thought it would be." Ella muttered to herself. "Run faster, Ella, Run faster!"
The roars of the beast behind Ella soon grew fainter from where Hattie ... fell over nothing ... leaving the other girl alone. ALONE in the DARKNESS. Don't worry, Ella will work her way back to you once she loses the beastie. I.E. Next round.
Don't get eaten.

And fainter..
And then gone.
When Hattie opened her eyes she sat up and looked about, trying to confirm that she wasn't killed and eventually decides she wasn't! Upon this realization, she flipped her hair back and snorted, "Yes run, coward! Ella.. I must admit you did rather well."
She cleared her throat, "I must admit, while you are not exactly my first choice as a 'shining knight' you did rather admirably. I suppose I should thank you for your efforts."
...
"Ella?" Hattie twirled about and just now realized that her stepsister was nowhere to be seen! As the atmosphere started to settle, the blonde swallowed hard, then stepped back to press her back against the wall. "Ella, show yourself this instant!"
Silence.
".. Please?"

"Now I just have to find Hattie. I think I went this way -" Out of breath, she could just barely hear her stepsister's voice, missing the rare moment of complimentary praise. She'll never hear that again.
Just as she was coming into earshot, she heard Hattie's demand, and the curse hauled her forward like an invisible hand dragging her. "WHOAH!!" She lurched forward - careful Hattie, you have a muddy stepsister stumbling right towards you!
Reply
Why hadn't her prince shown up yet, damn it? How about a mud monster instead?
The blonde's eyes went wide, then Hattie shrieked at the top of her lungs while 'Ella' stumbled toward her. She stepped backward, fell over (again!), then took off her shoe and threw it at her head. If that didn't work, she'd take off her other shoe, and with another shriek, threw -that- at her.
If that didn't put the beast down, she had her final weapon and that was wailing on the mudbeast with her handbag. DIE! "NO! NO! NO! RAAGH! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

Also mud monster? Really? That was just rude. "Hatt- AUGH!" Fire 1! The missile smacked Ella in the arm as she raised it to protect her face. "Cut it out!" Fire 2! This time it bopped her in the head.
"It's me!" She stepped forward and was greeted by a hail of handback smacks that she was hard put to defend against until she grabbed her stepsister's wrists with both hands. "Will you stop it already!?"
Honestly she wasn't -THAT- muddy. Just... a little over half of her. And there were twigs in her hair.

Really, she is.
"Back! Down! Ng- What?" before her sixth swing, Hattie was forced to put her assault on hold. She recognized that voice! "Oh. Ella!" the blonde was quite happy to see her!
Though then she frowned and hit Ella in the shoulder with her bag, "Was it worth it? You left me all alone, frightened me out of my wits, and made me sprain my ankle to pull some stupid prank at a time like -this-? Apologize -immedietly-, you.. You.. Childish twit!" Scowl growl. And to think she almost -thanked- her. She won't make that mistake twice!

"Ow! OW!" Man, if she had been a darkness monster she would -- ... well she'd have eaten Hattie in one gulp at this point, but hey. And ...wait, did Hattie actually sound happy to see her?
Understandable in the predicament they were in. Ella cautiously straightened and let out another OW! at the unfair assault on her poor shoulder. "Was what worth it? Luring that thing away?" She did it so it didn't go after her stepsister.
Figures Hattie didn't see it that way. "Sprained your ankle? Let me s-" She straightened abruptly, "I'm sorry, all right? Now, let me see your ankle."
Witch.

Hattie continued to be huffy and bratty, her arms crossed and teeth grit while rolling her eyes at her messy stepsister. "Whatever, Ella, this conversation is over, it's time for your punishment." and with the mention of her ankle, she quickly slipped one foot behind the other and replied, "No, you're not even a doctor."
"But I do know how you can help.. Get down on all fours."
Reply
Shut up.
Ella rubbed her arm where her stepsister hit her, annoyed. "Maybe not but I could probably see if it's swelling at least." Punishment blah blah. Being with you is punishment enough, Hattie.
Wait. What. "What fo-" OH HAI GRAVITY. Ella felt her body lurch forward, her knees buckling, and she valiantly resisted for the first few seconds. Then the usual complaints - the dizziness, the nausea the -- Ella hit the ground on her hands and knees with a gasp of pain.
"WHAT do you think you're -DOING-?" She demanded from the ground, glaring up at Hattie. Mortified. MORTIFIED.

"Always making it harder for yourself aren't you, Ella?" she chimes. Then, without warning, she seats herself upon Ella's back with her legs crossed, "Besides, you can't expect me to -walk- in my current condition, can you? So you're going to carry me."
Reply
OOFing when Hattie sat down on Ella, she considered - smirked to herself and heaved her body to the side. Even though she was stuck being on all fours, she could still at least make Hattie's position difficult. "Get off of my back. I am not a pack horse!" She snapped, her muscles straining to pull her upright again. No such luck - try as she might she just couldn't stand up.

She wasted no time getting back up and sitting in place again, however, with an annoyed expression, "You're not allowed to knock me off!" she quickly adds, "And you're not a pack horse, hm?"
Hattie grinned. Wide. "That's right, you're just a big guard dog today, aren't you? Bark, Ella."
Reply
Guard dog? Fine. She was sorely tempted to bite Hattie then. Rather than the sound of a human growling, the growl of an actual dog came from her throat, try as she might to surpress it. And then she barked, once, a flush on her cheeks.
Thank. God. No one could see this.
Well there was Caster, but we don't know that.

For now she'd be quite fine with her current predicament- That was until a literal bark come from Ella. That was both disturbing -and- impressive, ".. Wow. Very good! Now then let's be on our way; and if we get out of here, I'll give you a treat."
Ah but which we to go? "Head straight, then take a left, Ella." ... "I wish we had a carriage, you have a weird upward curve in your back. You should have that checked or you'll get a hunchback."
