You tell 'em!

So, Brent had to run out to the store last night and I was trying to get the kids in bed and also get ready for work.

Because Betty likes to put on elaborate shows of her vocal abilities when people are out of the room, I sat my laptop down by her cage and hit record on Audio Recorder.

I went upstairs and told the kids to be quiet because I was trying to record Betty.

What I had thought would be maybe a ten minute recording turned into a 50minute soundtrack that including children fighting, my disciplining said children, Aislinn heard to be wandering about looking for an open bathroom in which to brush her teeth and, upon coming up short, saying disgustedly, "Mommy, Tristan's crapping!" This was then followed by my trying not to laugh and explaining to her that, while Mommy and Daddy aren't bothered by those types of words, a lot of other people are and she can't be saying them at this age, but first she was informed her saying, "Tristan's crapping" was just recorded by the computer downstairs."

While this was going on Betty was making all sorts of noises and whistles, including the answering machine sound. She REALLY got into it when the phone actually rang! That seems to be very exciting for her, as she mimics the "beep" again and again and again whenever the phone rings. (It was actually the first sound I heard when I came in the door this morning and she's doing it right now!)

When I skimmed through the recording before I left for work I was surprised to hear that Betty really HAD said, "Shhhhh!" When the kids were fighting and being loud. Later in the recording, the kids were really at it and I hear Betty say, "Shhhhh.......! Shut up! Shut up!"

Oh, my GOD! Brent had told me he had heard her say "Shut up" a couple times when she was apparently REALLY wanting attention, but not with a "Shhhhhh" attached to it and used correctly!
