conclusions & spring break

in the past four years (my god, has it been that long?) i've written a shitton of things in this journal. i've documented breakups, personal drama and loss, roommates, religion, school, being overly politically correct, work, stress, personal issues...ad nauseaum. mainly, i've used it to clear my head about things that are bothering me because a ( Read more... )

i think maybe if i had tits i'd get tipped liberally.

that's not saying it's the only reason people like you. but uh... all the male bartenders where i work are pretty good at what they do and none of us get tipped the way we should. the girls work half as hard during the day time (i mean really, who drinks in the morning?) yet still easily make twice the tips the guys get.

things like this i feel justify corporate suppression of women. men have to make their money somewhere, y'all.

well, actually waiting tables is a little different than cocktailing (i do both, at different establishments). cocktailing is all sex appeal and "can a yet you another beer, mister?" it's no-brainer work. waiting tables is getting EVERYONE at your table to like you and have a rapport with you for the hour and change that they're taking up your table and time ( ... )

i'm our best bartender hands down. i work harder than any of the day bartenders (which happen to be girls, but if they were guys i'd still be working harder due to workload), yet make about half as much. i didn't say i don't make as much money as cocktail. obviously cocktail will make more than the bartenders because they just show off T&A.

i'm saying the girl bartenders get tipped better just for being girls.

honestly, they're not even terribly nice or attractive. they just have tits, and drunks are all about it.

again, i'm not trying to say anything personally towards you. it's just my general observation that girls get preferential treatment at bars because that's what drunk dudes want to see. they don't care how amazing my drinks are, how fast i make them, how polite and entertaining i am.

i have a penis. why do they want to tip me?

good point.

however. anyone who's ever waited a table a day in their life knows better than to NOT tip the hell out of someone.

HA. no. our work uniforms are HIDEOUS. my work-supplied shirt is a size extra small, and it goes down to my knees, and the sleeves go past my elbows. plus, i'm usually covered in food. like right now, my pants are stained in BBQ sauce that some small child launched at me yesterday and mustard that fell when i was carrying 15 plates back to the kitchen. it is impossible to look good in work clothes.

I know, I know. I just rarely go to Woodfield since I'm not a mall-bumming kid or anything like that.

Ah, well at least I didn't miss anything then. :P We ended up waiting until the conference was over (we were at the Hyatt across the street) and going to the Patio in Willowbrook or wherever it is (South on Rt. 83) on the way back.
