I think it's better without the darkness, to be honest. Comparing this episode to the previous one? No contest. The last one was drab and emotionless. This one was actually funny - I laughed out loud at all of the Firefly references and Ed Quinn was just priceless.

I like a mix of the darkness and the light. It is a crime show so I think darkness will be part of the story but sometimes it is so serious I can't handle it. I mean there are definitely times it is bad for Castle to crack a joke but sometimes it is absolutely necessary.

I laughed so much. I got instant happiness when he said Shiny. Only got worse as the episode moved on. It was so fun and so funny. I actually liked that Beckett was the fangirl this time.

I think you're right, and the darkness fits better when it is part of the story. I'm not sold on Beckett's background because all of the episode about her mom's killer and the conspiracy are the really dark ones that I don't generally end up liking.

Beckett as a fangirl was so much fun!

Really? Hmm. I like the idea that there is this heavy thing hanging over Beckett and that Castle lightens up everything.

Clearly the writers and directors like it that way too. *lol* I just think they do better when they keep it at mainly lighthearted fun.

Hey, lighthearted is great. They could give us more and we'd be happy.
