Orthros no Inu 1

I have to post things like this to keep me sane. Just a few more weeks, and it will be over...

So they advertised this heavily as "fast-paced" and likened it to American tv shows. Which I can sort of see in very miniscule elements, but otherwise it's really not too different from other dramas.

Tackey and Ryo haven't really impressed me, though I didn't expect them too. In fact, even with the unusual idea behind the drama, I didn't find anything particularly impressive nor suprising. Maybe it's not predictable, exactly, but it's not that hard to guess short term stuff. And I have a pretty good guess of how it will pan out.

I'm having a hard time understanding why Mizukawa Asami's character accepted the existence of the powers so readily without much proof. Also the utter stupidity of Ryo's character is going to bug me, I know. Good-hearted as he is, he is just epically dumb for a school teacher.

Oh, and Ryo grabbed her shoulder. Where she'd gotten shot. Why did it not hurt?

Ending song is alright though. Typical of Tackey, but fun for the drama.

Casting, casting--I'll ignore the leads for now, though I think it's a nice role for Mizukawa Asami. Or at least, I thought so at first but the way she handled the situations in the first episode was kinda unimpressive. You don't do undercover work on your own, no matter how old your partner is! And you certainly do not confront three punk kids on your own!

Her boyfriend (or at least, I'm assuming he's the boyfriend) is played by a gentle-looking Oshinari Shugo, who usually plays baddie-characters. I think the nicest character I've ever seen him play is the skater dude from the LoveCom movie who rejected Risa for being too tall. His ranting raving scheming face from Maou is quite imprinted in my mind, and so I'm afraid I'm still suspicious of his character in this one. Nice seeing him again though. (Edit: Oooh, and Ninkyo Helper episode 3, apparently. He plays an abusive grandson. D:)

The autopsy girl was really pretty and familiar, and I was right when I'd guessed she'd been on Hana Kimi. Harada Natsuki played Mizushima Hiro's first love in that drama, and I believe she played the pottery girl in Hachimitsu to Clover. I just may attempt that drama again someday.

And of course, Hikaru. Ohhh, Hikaru. You'd better be careful, or you'll be playing nothing but punk kids from now on. Seriously though, I think he does a better job of looking evil than Tackey does. Tackey just gets more screen time.

As of now I'm still watching, but probably only until I get distracted by other shiny things.
