Point in time when character has been taken from canon: At the end of series 9 not long after he's been told that his career is being investigated.

Character History: Harry's had quite an eventful life. He went to Oxford University, and his mother died when he was in his final year. After that he joined the army for a little while and then was recruited into MI5.

He has quite a distinguished career in MI5. He starts off in Northern Ireland, until his best friend is killed. Naturally Harry gets a bit emotional about it and is seconded to MI6 for his own good. Even years afterwards he still gets a bit emotional about Irish issues and has trouble seeing them as the good guys. In MI6 he got to spend time in Germany and France, until he accidentally got a Germany minister killed, so was recalled back to London for his own good. After those initial mistakes he ends up in Section D, the anti-terrorism unit, where he excels himself and works his way up to head and eventually gets knighted.

The price to pay for his success is that of his personal life. He doesn't tell his wife, Jane, what he does until she's signed the register. Then when he's serving abroad and she's less than happy about living in countries where she doesn't speak the language, he has an affair. They eventually split up when he's convinced she's having an affair and spies on her to prove it. It turns out he's just being paranoid.

His children are a victim of this too. Because he spent so much time at work he didn't spend time with them. It's not that he doesn't love them, though, and his daughter, Catherine, is grown up before she can forgive him and he can be a better father. His son, Graham, on the other hand, hates him and doesn't speak to either of his parents.

It's after he's head of Section D that he falls in love again, with the Intelligence Analyst, Ruth Evershed. Although in keeping with the rest of the mess of his personal life, they only get as far as having dinner before the team fake her death and she leaves the country to protect him. He accepts this because it's out of his hands by that point, but he still holds a candle for her.

When she returns he has hopes for a reconciliation, but she turns down his marriage proposal. The trouble is that they're both married to their jobs.

Most recently, a protégé of his, Lucas North, turned out to be lying about who he was. Lucas tried to blackmail Harry using Ruth. Harry bit, but since he's a good schemer, only made it look like he gave Lucas what he wanted. However, he gave away a state secret, so the Home Secretary tells Harry there's going to be an enquiry into him and his career, that will likely end in him being fired.

Character Personality (please also include how the stress of incarceration and the Warden's interference may affect your character. We realize that character interaction may influence and change this, however, certain aspects of your character's personality may be considered constant):

Harry is outwardly cool, calm and collected. He has to make decisions every day that affect millions of people and he's learnt not to hesitate before he does, or lose sleep over it afterwards. It makes him come across as a bit of a bastard, especially when he has to sacrifice people for the greater good. But he's not unfeeling about it. Sacrificing those he loves affects him and makes him emotional, sometimes to the point of making the wrong decisions because of it.

He has a great affection and loyalty for those he works with. Although he can't always afford the time to grieve for them, it doesn't mean he doesn't feel their loss. Often the only way he expresses it is to drink, usually Scotch. He inspires great loyalty in his team and they will equally go to great lengths for him.

Considering his line of work it's something of a failing that he trusts easily. It means he takes betrayal badly - they've not just betrayed their country they've betrayed the trust he's put in them too. As far as Harry's concerned it's the worst thing you can do. His personal set of morals rate loyalty very highly and he has no time for people who disagree with him.

Although Harry's not above breaking the law when it's necessary. He's a master of words and he knows what to say to high-ranking politicians and MI5 staff to get his way. It doesn't always work, but he puts a lot of effort into it - when necessary generally means something someone on his team needs. He never considers his needs above theirs, or above the greater good.

He doesn't smile much - Lucas North once said that he chooses his tie with his frown. To be fair, his personal life doesn't have much to smile about and his job, which pretty much is his whole life, deals with pretty serious stuff. He does manage to have rare moments of happiness and he's not without a sense of humour. However, he has a temper to go with it. Although he doesn't get angry that often, when he does he's not someone anyone wants to be around as he'll shout at anyone for the slightest thing. When he's angry people find reasons to leave the room pretty quickly.

He will be paranoid about finding himself in Glaxcin and think that it's some sort of plot by people unknown, trying to get him to tell them some sensitive information. He may well believe that everyone else in there is pretending to be fellow prisoners in order to trap him. So he won't be giving out any personal information, including his real name. After a while, I suspect that events in the prison will show him that something different to what he's experienced in the past is going on. He'll either have to come to accept it or go mad. I'm not sure which it will be yet, and it will take quite a while for him to come to that point.

Physical Description: Harry is 5'10 with brown hair and eyes, although his hair is thinning, and it's almost non-existent on top. He is a bit rounded, to put it politely. He's not fat, but he's definitely got the stomach you associate with a man his age who doesn't watch how much he eats or drinks.

Magical powers or special skills: (Please indicate which powers/skills are natural/born with talent and which are learned. If the powers are a mixture of both, please indicate and explain. IE: Harry Potter has natural magical powers, but cannot control/use spells without being taught). None

Any crimes committed in canon: Multiple counts of murder and mass murder, but since they were committed as an intelligence officer in MI5, they don't technically count as crimes.

Crime incarcerated into Glaxcin for: (this can be any crime(s) of your choosing, especially if the character is not a criminal in their canon): Treason

Is there any particular direction you would like to see your character go? Anything you would like to explore?: Harry Sullivan accepted Glaxcin fairly easily, so I'd like Harry Pearce to go in completely the opposite direction and just be ultra paranoid and disbelieving of everything. He won't trust anything he hears or sees there. He will take every opportunity to not do as the Warden says and to try and escape. He should make prison life more interesting for a while.
