I just finished reading The Ice Master: The Doomed 1913 Voyage of the Karluk, and it was so good!  I don't know why the story of the Karluk isn't better known.  Has anyone else read it?  It was excellent, gripping!  I'm curious to know more about Stefansson, because he sounds just horrible.

I just finished reading The Terror by Dan Simmons, and I want to die!!!  It was so incredibly good.  I'm just totally traumatized and obsessed and angstful and overwhelmed now, and so sad that it's over.  And heartsick.  Oh, I can't cope.  I want to cry.

Has anyone read other books by him?

Who was the man who was in the arctic or antarctic region, and he was so rigorous with the separation between officers and crew that when they were stranded, he even made them sleep in two different halves of the ice cave?
