My immediate resolution was the rather prosaic, "Be less hungover this New Year's Day." This was a success, I am pleased to say. In fact, drinking a lot of water in the second half of the night really negates most of the unpleasant drinking effects, even for something fairly strong like champagne.
My other resolutions will take a little longer to coherently describe. Right now I am stuck about halfway between a bout of self-satisfaction and self-dissatisfaction. They do not quite cancel out.
I guess one of my resolutions is to finally finish my review of college and to some extent high school. I know that my thoughts on those things will change - they have already changed to some extent, but I would like to record them just a short time after graduation.
Another resolution - this is a classic, and I've been making progress, but am not there yet - is to spend less time reading about things and more time doing them. Cases in point are RPGs and books and so on. This year was much better, but I still want and need to be more efficient.
One boring but necessary resolution is to get a strong start on my graduate school research. I am satisfied with my first semester, but I have to keep it up. Especially, I need to start and stay organized. This has always been one of my weak points and I don't want to bee scrambling through four years of untidy notes come thesis defense.
That's actually a pretty decent start! Plus the basics, lose weight and excercise more.
I guess I should write more about the year in review. Some of that will necessarily come with the college review. Overall it was a rough year for the country and for many people. It was not a bad year for me, mostly since I finally got into grad school and have a definite, set direction for the next few years. Also, a paycheck. I can't really say enough how much that makes a difference.
Happy New Years and such. You know it was a good time when it takes a few days to get around to taking about it.
new year,
