Leaving Moscow

Aug 28, 2008 12:12

After TEH Collid0r! escapade, which lasted until 10am on the 7th day, we slept the rest away, emerging only to get dinner and wander up one of the Moscow River tributaries.

Next day, our last, was a lethargic mess that only recovered when we finally got out for our last night. We met in the boulevard with the_reverse, 736b796669, industreal, hedhog, bw_muscat and a collection of others. It worked to being a great night, full of laughs, $4 a bottle 'wodka', getting chased off residential block rooftops by grumpy old men and finally a toast to Diggers Internationally United at the World Fair site. We pissed off quite a few commuters with our metro train japes on the way home too.

At 10pm we met up with moscowhite to have dinner, he was been very kind to us, so generous with his time, as has the_reverse and many others. Indeed Moscow has been a wonderful city to see, a truly modern cosmopolitan place, badly maligned by rumour and stupid Lonely Planet guide books. At no point did we feel anything but safe and welcome, we never had to bribe any officials like we were told we would have to lol, the accomodations at the hostel were better than those in London and Paris, things were more within our price range than other European cities and the beaureacratic aspects regarding entering and exiting the country ran like clockwork. It had been a wish of mine to see Moscow for a good 2 years now and the place and inhabitants were everything i had thought they would be. Brilliant! Many thanks to everyone we met, all of you were so very generous and kind to us.
