I mentioned a while ago that my inner-muse and inner-editor were locking heads over Timeless -formerly Death Perception. Well, IE is beating Cal to the ground and now she's trying to bargain her way out. Smart move, muse, smart move 'cause IE was presenting a seriously convincing argument but now I think I like what you're offering.
I'll admit, if I'm setting out to write romance for this novel, the MFC should live. I can go crazy Poe on something else, or maybe between the beginning and end of Timeless. (I've got sadistic immortals and eviscerated corpses, that's more than feasible.) However, in this novel I realised that there's quite a few values on life as well as significant irony. And this is my muse's compromise: the FMC won't die, but it must seem like she's dead for a period of time. IE agrees with this. They shake hands, go out for coffee, and leave me to solve this new plot-hole in a way that makes sense.
Bastards.
I'm tossing around two ideas. One would be using an established canon, the other I'd be adding a new element. The former would be difficult unless I can think of something because MFC 'dies' right in front of MMC and this option would require MMC to intervene immediately. None of the 'I thought she was dead' angst. :( The second is easier, but I think it might be a bit over the top. Okay, no, not over the top per se, rather I'd be doing what I did with my vampires of another project: I'd have an explanation for every single detail of my immortals. I'm not fond of this because I want them to be a bit mysterious, and not knowing everything about them is part of the fun.
Decisions, decisions....
Zoe! Vann! Get your butts over here! I need betas to bounce ideas off of.
ETA: Unrelated to Timeless but it's on the subject of writing. There's been a VK CrossOC bunny scampering about in my head, but, sorry folks, I won't write the fic. That particular plot is too well-suited for an actual novel (Nano '09 maybe?).
