(no subject)
When I first saw all the hub-bub about the recent permanent suspensions I withheld judgment and decided to sit back and watch the wank ensue. After all, I have been pretty silent on LJ recently. Being lazy and allowing everyone else to provide me entertainment instead of adding anything of my own, just seemed the thing to do at the time. I suppose it could be classified as lurking.
But now...?
WTF LJ? This whole thing is really starting to make me angry....
Especially this.
And if you don't want to click on the link and read the entire article, no worries, I'm just pissed enough to use copy & paste to assault my friends list with the most infuriating part:
"Our decision here was not based on pure legal issues," countered Six Apart's Berkowitz. "It was based on what community we want to build and what we think is appropriate within that community and what's not. We have an awful broad range of discussions and topics and other things going on in LiveJournal, and we encourage other broad-ranging conversations on all sorts of topics. This was a specific case where we felt there was not a reason (for these journals to stay online)."
Nice of LJ to let the media know that they feel is is OK to lump fandom journals in with genuinely fucked up material. Sorry, Six Apart, but Fan fic (even weird fan fic) =/= pedo-grooming/discussions/anythingfuckedlikethat. Nor does it encourage anyone to break any laws related to such things.
Also nice of them to notify the media, and yet have nothing to say to their paying clients.
Well I have something to say to them:
I WANT MY MONEY BACK BITCHES.
