First, apologies to all the people I usually talk to on messenger(s). I've broken mine. It could be a while before I figure out what's wrong with the bastard thing. For the technically minded, GAIM seems to be having some sort of argument with the gnome panel. I'll get to the bottom of it eventually.
For curiosity's sake I thought I'd do a calorie diary for today.
The results might explain why I've lost more than a stone (14lbs, about 6.5Kg) since New Year. I'm not on a calorie controlled diet, or indeed any kind of diet. This is what I normally eat and today is pretty typical. I don't have milk or sugar in tea, so I'm counting it as zero, and I don't drink soft drinks / soda but I do drink a lot of water.
Meal / ExerciseItemApprox Cal
Breakfast1 Glass of Orange Juice120
1 small bowl of cereal + milk240
Cycling to work -50
Gym -650
LunchTuna salad sandwich pack350
Doritos200
Cycling home -50
DinnerChilli and Rice750
Orange squash10
SupperCrumpet125
So that makes a total of 1045 calories, which according to many health advice websites etc. is about half the number I need.
The scary thing is that this actually adds up. It's 9 weeks or so since New Year, meaning I've lost about 1.5lbs a week. 1 pound is about 3500 calories, meaning I've maintained a weekly deficit of about 5000 calories.
I don't go to the gym at weekends and I tend to have a tipple, too. So my weekend calorie balance is probably neutral.
There's going to come a point soon when I'm going to need to eat more. I'm sure my body will tell me.
Meme time. Post a comment and I will give you a letter of the alphabet, you then post this invitation on your journal along with a list of your ten favourite songs that begin with that letter
