[Eleanor is sitting at a small table in her bedroom which is still at mutanthaus I believe, her phone resting on the far side of the table to film her. There's a small Christmas tree on the floor behind her, with a little pile of torn up wrappings under it. But her phone is mostly focusing on what is on the table, which appears to be a large, Read more... )

I generally object to people injecting themselves with strange substances.

It's not a strange substance, it's a Plasmid.

A so far unidentified plasmid.

And what, pray tell, is a "plasmid"?

Genetic engineering in a bottle.

They're what gave me my powers.

And how dangerous are they?

[Eleanor has to think about it for a moment.]

Well, initially your body adapts violently to the transition. That tends to depend on the plasmid though, Electro Bolt tends to electrocute you, that sort of thing. I've never experienced it.

And they're very addictive, but I've already got them in me so it's too late for that. [She gives a little shrug.]

...And you're addicted to these things.

Somewhat. There's two addictions, really. Mother said one of them was psychological. People became addicted to splicing, to the ability to change adn better themselves and try to be perfect. I don't think I'm like that...

[Although she's in no rush to throw the vial away, it seems...]

The other one is physical. People need ADAM to create and maintain the changes. I have that. I know I do. But I have a...workaround. For lack of a better term.

What kind of workaround?

[Eleanor grimaces faintly.]

There's a parasite in my stomach that secrets the substance I'm addicted to. So...I always have it.

Powers...

That sounds...really rather unpleasant.

Sometimes I think I can feel it. I'm not supposed to, it apparently numbs the area around it so I can't. But sometimes...

[She shrugs.]

My powers are useful though.

Can you kill the...parasite? Or have it removed?

I couldn't in Rapture. Here...I don't know. Maybe.

But...

[She frowns.]

I'd lose the ADAM it creates. I'd still have the modifications, I'd just no longer have the fuel. That problem drove an entire city mad.

I suppose as long as it's not outright harming you it's alright...

It actually...mother thought it 'improved' me. [Eleanor doesn't appear to agree.] I'm more resistant to things, I don't reject plasmid treatments the way someone without a slug would.

I heal faster, too. And I'm harder to hurt. Not like a true big sister, but it's...close.
