Just out of a general curiosity, what sort of military or special operations training is represented here? What did you fight/how did you fight it? Were you successful? What skills have you found beneficial here? Has anything you learned been detrimental?

Fought zombies. Home-trained, mostly, but with two parents who poke at them routinely, there's no better.

Quick thinking and good shooting's never been detrimental.

[Social skills gets points down, but Shaun never thinks of it this way...]

[Who needs social skills anyway. So overrated.]

Zombies? Could you go into detail? They were myth in the world I came from, so there were a lot of 'varieties'. Also what kind of firearms did you use? Fiction dictates shotguns were the best weapon against zombies, so I wonder how effective rifles or pistols might be?

[He's not even been in a situation where he's realized how badly damaged he is that way, so it's all good.]

Right ( ... )

That and more, I appreciate your detail. I'm assuming this was a pandemic thing and not restricted to certain regions?

[My, that certainly is a lot of encryptions. Cortana doesn't break through any of them, though. Not yet, anyway.]

Me personally?

I usually fought with a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. Very efficient, even when outnumbered. Which happened pretty much all the time.

[Oh Cortana, the goodies Carolina has encrypted all up in this shit!]

[And well she's awfully familiar with that weapon, isn't she? Hello, there, AI ... she gives just a moment of hesitation before she answers, keeping to text.]

Sounds like a real heavy hitter. I'm assuming you weren't just trying to exterminate a flea infestation?

While it probably would work as a bug zapper pretty efficiently, no. These were enemy ships. Big ones.

Most of the time, though, I spent in someone else's head. He was the one with all the military training.

[She's keeping carefully anonymous now, the news she heard about the end of Project Freelancer making her more curious about where this conversation could go.]

Spent in someone else's head? Care to elaborate on that?

Thom's back now. Noble-Seven. You'll want to talk to him.

You settling in?

Noted.

Been smooth going so far. I have to admit the jobs and credit system here is handy; didn't take me long to qualify for a decent place. Even furnished it. [Momentary flip to video to show a closeup of a bear skin rug.]

On-the-job hazard turned into bachlorette-pad chic, more or less. [Why yes she did kill and skin that herself.]

Agreed. All it takes is a few jobs to reach middle-class status, it seems. Only thing holding anyone back is personal motivation. [She's got her eyes set on a personal shuttle, eventually. Team comes first, though, so she's content with her little apartment while she tries to figure that mess out.]

Why do you want to know?

Seems like good information to have on hand in case of a crisis, which I've been warned happens not infrequently.

On my world there was a civil war that lasted for a few million years. From its start to end, my primary function was that of military operations commander. I had other jobs, but creating strategies in order to win the war and then leading the correct troops into completing my plans was what I was tasked with most. My strategies have never failed.

As far as weapons go, my specialty is firearms, considering I was a gun.

[A few million years? She can't help staring at that wondering if she read it right. Damn ... also was this guy implying he'd been around for the entire thing?]

[Well, that certainly meant he had a fair bit of experience. Also, she's betting he's not human.]

Good to hear we've got some leadership out there. Certainly sounds like you've got sufficient experience to back it up.

What kind of a gun, if I may ask?

I moonlight as a superhero. I pretty much kick ass.

No idea about whats here but I've probably handled worse.

Do you 'kick ass' in any particular fashion or just in general? [Not really impressed yet ... ]

Such as ... ?

across all subjects and disciplines? close quarters combat, anti-tank... AA against anything smaller than a b2 spirit.

[Okay, she has to admit, that's impressive. But she's not going to let him know that.] Doesn't sound much like a superman if you can't take out anything bigger then a palsy fighter jet.

Sounds like a variable conglomeration of foes there.
