[Hiccup is grinning down at his wearable. Or, rather, he's trying to. He can't help it if he needs to shoot Toothless a few looks. The dragon is only headbutting him repeatedly. Hiccup isn't sure if Toothless wants him out the door, already, or is just full of affectionate excitement. It may be both.Hey, Astrid? I know you're, like. Busy and stuff

Here, Rookie will help. Because he is normal and suddenly incredibly interested in this.]
You're Toothless's friend?
[He knew big ol' dragon had been missing somebody...]

[Not that he's bragging.]

Ah. I'm Rookie, by the way.

Anyways its, uh, it's nice to meet you. A, uh. A friend of Toothless is a friend of mine!
[He almost couldn't say it with a straight face.]

It's a pleasure, Hiccup. Glad you've found him, by the way.
Reply
...seriously, it's still a little crazy to know Toothless has friends. I mean...besides me.
Reply
Well, he's a pretty popular guy.
Reply
[And as awesome as that is, he's not sure if he'll ever be used to it.]
So...have any Night Furies where you're from? Or...any dragons at all?
Reply
Unfortunately no. It's been interesting to see them, here.
Reply
Wait, you...do have a face under that, right?
Or is that...just...
[He starts motioning to his own face.]
Y'know. Your head?

Contrary to some opinions- [And here he ducks to release his helmet's locks] -we are people under here.
[He pulls off the helmet and behold! Face! Complete with military haircut and a smattering of combat scars here and tere.]

So it is battle armor.
Okay, so, what is that made of? And your helmet--how can you even see out of that? It can't be stone, even though that's sort of what it looks like. If it fits all the way around, how exactly do you breathe? Are you part of the troops here?
Is there a war going on we don't know about? Does Astrid know, because I think that'd be a great thing to get her in on. Just. Personally. Knowing her, as I do.
[Oh my Gods, where has his mind gone.]

It's mostly metal and ceramic. The plates, anyway. The helmet's the same metal as the rest of the armor. The visor's sort of like glass; how we see through it. Breathing really isn't that hard, honestly. And yes, I am. I'm with the UNSC here.
I've heard there's a war on - one of us believes that, anyway - against the people on the planet below. My armor's because of a war back where I'm from. [He pauses, smiling.] She's a fighter, huh?

He shakes it off, and tries to keep cool.]
Y-Yeah, uh. Okay. Why would you make armor out of pottery?
Most Vikings are fighters.
Reply
Would you believe it's actually stronger than you think?
Vikings?
[Okay now that? That is awesome. Vikings, man.]
Reply
Vikings who ride dragons.
[Apparently.]
And, I'd say you were messing were messing with me about the whole ceramics thing if I didn't know how long it takes to fix armor. No smith in his right mind would waste his time on something that doesn't work.
